Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

It would be politically stupid for him to release now. People that support him couldn't care less. It might matter more if he wasn't running against such a corrupt politician like Hillary. She makes his look insignificant.

All three of you won't be able to sway this election.

I would say he's waiting to see what they find. If they find something(s) he'll settle up with them, then release. It's much better politically to have these issues with the IRS settled before going public with it. This audit was perfect timing for him.

Even if everything is above board, there are at least two things voters will not like about it:

- due to his status as a real estate developer, he's paying next to no taxes. He once said that seeing how little Romney paid cost him the presidency - Trump is surely paying less.
- He's not giving to charity: hundreds and hundreds of charities have been asked and all said they didn't get anything from Trump

Former Texas official says he was told to drop Trump University probe

Owens, now retired, said his team had built a solid case against the now-presumptive Republican presidential nominee, but was told to drop it after Trump's company agreed to cease operations in Texas.

The former state regulator told The Associated Press on Friday that decision was highly unusual and left the bilked students on their own to attempt to recover their tuition money from the celebrity businessman.

...

Owens said he was so surprised at the order to stand down he made a copy of the case file and took it home.

"It had to be political in my mind because Donald Trump was treated differently than any other similarly situated scam artist in the 16 years I was at the consumer protection office," said Owens, who lives in Houston.

Owens' boss at the time was then-Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is now the state's GOP governor.

This audit was perfect timing for him.
Except it has nothing to due with timing. All billionaires get audited. And these audits last 12 months. So when Trump was saying he would release it when the audit is over, he knew that day would never come. He was in effect lying: he knew what the truth was and he was trying to deceive people into believing something that wasn't true.

and even if what I asserted is completely false, there is no valid reason he cannot release the 2014 returns.

I would say he's waiting to see what they find. If they find something(s) he'll settle up with them, then release. It's much better politically to have these issues with the IRS settled before going public with it.

Except there is no issue to settle, and even if there were, so what? He could release it and if they find evidence of cheating, they would ask him to pay whatever fines and taxes he owes. Whether the public sees the original version he filed or sees the approved version that "passed the audit" is irrelevant. As is evidenced of his refusing to release his 2014 records.

The bottom line is he unequivocally believes releasing the returns will hurt him so he doesn't want to release them. All the "but it's being audited" crap is just that, crap. But what else could one expect from a professional BSer like Trump.

ETA
Why doesn't Mr. Tell-it-like-it-is have the balls to say, I don't want you to see my return so there is no ******* way I am going to show it to you?

You'll just have to wait till he's elected to find out how many billions he has.

How does his taking office help us know how many billions he has?

Or was that just a stupid joke that this humorless liberal didn't get?

Lol

Liberals not crying and stomping their feet?

This from someone supporting a candidate who is already going "waaahhh the big bad witch stole the election from me!" He is a narcissist and a child man who can barely speak English, and yet you believe he should hold one of the most important posts in world politics. That is scary in the extreme.

You don't know the answer to that, you think you do. ;)
You're right.

The point is that Trump is selling us something, just like he was selling Trump University. And my point is that since Trump has a very long history of exaggeration he is obligated to not just make claims but to prove them. He incessantly boasts that he is a top notch businessman, yet he is unwilling to prove his claims.

You don't know what each discussed. You also dpn't provide any context, which you have been known to do. ;)
Wow! Do you read the news at all? This is a FACT. Trump said they didn't discuss the wall, the Mexican President within about an hour of Trump's press conference said that he emphatically told Trump that Mexico wouldn't pay for his wall and then Trump himself admitted this. Try to keep up.
Again, you don't know what his taxes are. But you continually slander him.

How do you know that I'm slandering him? It is a verifiable fact that a few years ago that Trump told Tim O'Brien in the space of a few hours that he was worth 4 billion, 9 billion and 1.75 billion dollars. The judge who tossed Trump's lawsuit against O'Brien for saying that Trump's actual net worth was between 150 and 250 million dollars basically said "how could he rule that O'Brien was making the numbers up out of whole cloth as Trump himself seemed to be doing the same thing"?

In my opinion, the reason why Trump is considered an alternative to Clinton is due to an obvious double-standard, due to their CV:

Clinton, is a career politician, Trump a businessmen and celebrity.
Because of this, the same actions (lying, shady deals, exaggerations, lawsuits, tax evasion) are judged completely different:
For a politican, any of these are damning acts. For a businessmen they show cunning and success.

The key error of Trump supporters is that they think that a 70-year old man, who has been a showman all his life, will suddenly change to become a respectable president.

<snip fact-challenged drivel>
At least you own your fact-challenged drivel:

logger said:
I am a Trump sycophant

Synonyms: yes-man, bootlicker, brown-noser, toady, lickspittle, flatterer, flunky, lackey, spaniel, doormat, stooge, cringer, suck, suck-up

In short, I assume that pointing you to facts is not apt to be fruitful, and I appreciate your frank admission.

I would say he's waiting to see what they find. If they find something(s) he'll settle up with them, then release.

You're living in fantasyland if you think he'd ever release them, even if the IRS completed its audit tomorrow. He could easily release returns from years that aren't under audit, but he doesn't. Why? Because he knows it would cost him votes if people found out that he hasn't payed any taxes in decades, or that he isn't nearly as wealthy as he claims.

I think the explanation for the responses of the Trump supporters is pretty simple. They are almost religiously convinced Hilary Clinton is a much worse human being than Donald Trump. Thus every time some new revelation comes out about Trump's sleazy, corrupt, possibly criminal activities, they assume Clinton must have done something 10 times worse.

Why do you think Trump supporters think he will turn in to a respectable president? A lot of his followers think his current shtick will make him a president who earns respect. They love his brashness, his bluster, and his bullcrap. They don't want him to change.

In their minds, making America great again means having other countries fear and respect us. They like that Trump makes inquires about nukes. They think that talking about the use of nukes is one of the things that will make America great again.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this. And, what they like, I despise. I far more respect people that engage their brain before their mouth. That treat others with respect and dignity. It's embarrassing to me that this caricature as opposed to a serious human being is the Republican nominee.

That thought is too scary for me: that people want Trump to run the country like his business :

- Get into massive debt
- Make threats but never follow up on them
- be happy for other countries to make all the great stuff as long as he gets to put "made in the USA" on it

Now you want him to release years not under audit?

How would the left react then?

Every post from the left just shoots from the hip.

Let me put it like this. It is clear from the mass confusion the left has shown is this thread, Trump once again seems to be right where he needs to be.

No, we know she's done much worse and gotten away with it, propped up by many here.
