Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part IV

Sure. You suggest that the self-righteous are hypocrites (at least, this holds practically speaking).

There are two possibilities.

(1) You regard yourself as better than hypocrites. In this respect, your post is itself self-righteous, suggesting that you exemplify a higher standard than hypocrites. Hence, by your own suggestion, you are almost certainly a hypocrite.

(2) You do not regard yourself as better than hypocrites. This may be because you're a hypocrite, or equally bad in some other way. In either case, I must admit that there is no self-righteousness here, despite what I earlier said, but it certainly follows that you are no better than a hypocrite (at least according to your self-perception).

There are two possibilities, either you're good or you're evil. I'll assume you're evil, but it's my bad, if you're good.

Anyway, I guess you see now that my post was not self-righteous in the least. Which is not to claim that I'm not self-righteous. I am about some things and probably hypocritical about those same things. I do think it's odd that you went out of your way (to the point of having to indulge in nonsense) to respond snarkily to me. I don't even remember us arguing before. I get the feeling I rub some people the wrong way. Perhaps I'll try rubbing in the other direction.

His performance with Sean Hannity was priceless IMO, since it told you everything you need to know about Trump: he has no plan, no agenda of his own and will go with everything that seems to be popular wherever he happens to be.
That is the textbook definition of the opposite of a Leader.

Perhaps that's why Trump is so impressed by Putin. Putin is the "strong leader" that Trump clearly isn't.

I think you are being a bit unfair in condemning the Republican Party in that manner. Sixty percent of primary voters chose someone other than Trump. And many prominent Republicans have condemned him.

Furthermore, it was not just Republicans who looked at Trump and figured he could get his **** together after the primaries; there were others who expected the pivot to eventually come. I am not sure stupid is the correct label for not foreseeing his complete inability to act presidential.

The Republican party isn't the party it use to be. Remember Trump also ran in 2012. And didn't get anywhere. The phenomenon of right wing radio has done the party some serious damage. I have worked closely with 2 Republican mayors both of whom were smart men. Neither of which would be able to stomach the rhetoric I hear out of the GOP the last 10 to 20 years. Not sure when it started to really go downhill but it's been on this path for awhile.

The GOP has been getting progressively worse and maybe with the election of a black man as President, it woke something up that the party was trying to move beyond. Not sure which.

I'm really fearful and hopeful about this election. It is a real turning point in America. Trump is a backlash against inclusion, a future that Obama symbolizes. His campaign is possibly one of the last gasps of some ugly American history or it could be a step back into it.

Donald never actually ran in 2012 but the rest stands. He threatened to run but never filed the paperwork.

"The Republicans tell no tale; but even as the reactionary vote was the foundation of their power, so also it was their destruction: they polled too greedily and too extreme, and disturbed that from which they fled, Jeb!'s Bane."

...I was thinking more along the lines of a cable network such as the one Sarah Palin put up? (Does her 'network' still exist; I have no idea. I never knew anyone who watched it. In fact, I never heard of anyone who watched it.)

Been gone over a year! From the showbiz Bible, Variety:
Sarah Palin Pulls Plug on Internet Subscription-Video Channel

After one year, Palin is ending the subscription service. She announced in a July 4 [2015] post that her video content will be distributed free on her political action committee’s site and Facebook, on which she has 4.4 million followers...

Palin “won’t be working with Tapp moving forward,” a company rep said, given that the startup is focused on subscription-based services...According to the message on the site, monthly subscribers will no longer be charged after July [2015]. Annual subscribers can opt to either have the remainder of their subscription fees refunded or apply it to one of Tapp’s three other over-the-top services.

I just did a little Googling. He made speeches and acted like a candidate, but bowed out. But I guess he was never in.

I think Fox even included him in their polling and he was winning. He had his tiny fingers all over the Republican base's erogenous zone with his birtherism.

Notable shift in GOP presence as not one single party member up for election in a competitive race appeared with him today.

I guess Ann is fine with wherever Trump decides to land after all:
[Ann Coulter told] Bloomberg News' Joshua Green, “My worship for him is like the people of North Korea worship their Dear Leader — blind loyalty. Once he gave that Mexican rapist speech, I’ll walk across glass for him. That’s basically it." - Ann Coulter

These words have to come back to haunt her, they have to. Imagine being so consumed with hate that you could worship (she really used that word? :eye-poppi ) a dirtbag* like Trump?

* - Former Republican Governor of Connecticut, Lowell Weiker, once called The Don a dirtbag following Trump's testimony before Congress attacking Native American-run casinos in Weiker's state.

I suspect Coulter doesn't care about anything except drumming up book sales. Like with Trump, saying anything outrageous gets publicity.

I don't think this is recidivism : the GOP has become something entirely novel. Starting with the Southern Strategy of Nixon's time, the Moral Majority, shock-jocks - designed to bring in votes, not, heaven forfend, meant to influence policy. That would stay with the East Coast suits, where it rightfully belongs. And thus it was right through Reagan and Bush Jr.

Then came Koch-backed Libertarian entryism via the Tea Party and suddenly the lunatics were roaming the asylum. Now, of course, they've taken over.

Interestingly, the whole process has occurred within the career of one Carl Rove. Make of that you will.

Those comments really did make my stomach queasy.

It sounds like something a person would say when they finally admit to themselves that they're nothing more than a tool. Comparing her relationship with Trump to that of North Koreans' relationship with Kim Jong-Il is... bizarre. It's certainly not positive imagery.

The parties are always evolving Neither party is what they were in 68, 80, 92 or even 2012. But ever since the signing of the Civil Rights Act, the GOP could count on the White South as a core constituency It doubled down by embracing "the Moral Majority and the evangelicals which reinforced Republican identification in the Bible Belt. Before, the GOP used all that homophobia to sell this fraud on America. But hardly anyobe cares about the gays anymore.

Most people aren't buying the voodoo economis anymore so Trump is trying the tried and true xenophobic demagoguery.

I read today that Trump tried using the death of Dwyane Wade's sister to his advantage. Except he spelled his name wrong...and didn't give any condolences...and he's an *******.

Cousin, not sister.

His tweet:
“Dwayne [sic] Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP
