Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part IV

We can do some calculations. The average Class A office space rent in midtown Manhattan was about $75/sq ft per year in Q1 of 2015. No doubt Trump Tower is Class A. In fact, it's probably on the upper end of Class A. So, let's assume that it's $85/sq ft per year now.

Based on the photo in the linked article, if these are Class A offices, I would hate to see Class C.

Money well pocketed...I mean spent.

The best people.

ROGER STONE: I think she’s a Saudi asset. The media keeps saying her mother’s a prominent feminist. No. Her mother's a prominent advocate for genital mutilation. She has written extensively*about genital mutilation.*
ALEX JONES: Did Huma have her genitals cut off?
STONE: That I cannot tell you. But what I can tell you is --
JONES: I mean it's fair, I don't mean that to be crass!

Only the vilest of people.

Well, I suppose that could explain the jump in rent, if in fact the office space was finished by July. It wouldn't actually take very long to turn the office in that picture into something really nice.

Yea, that's it. They did a major renovation for a organization that was going to be there for 6 months. Yeah right. You clearly haven't worked in a campaign before.

Do you think 5th floor office space in a 58-story tower at 725 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is going to look like that picture for very long? It was obviously in the middle of a remodeling. This isn't a warehouse in Newark we're talking about. Going from that picture to luxurious office space could be done for less than two months' rent.

Why would you move in just before renovations? What do you do while that's happening? Try to ignore the construction noise? Take a 2-week vacation in the middle of a campaign?

Actually yes. They would renovate the space according to the needs and wishes of a specific tenant. Otherwise they wouldn't spend the money.

For a campaign, they might put in cheap desks and cubicles. But that's about it.

Wonder if some of those units got a bit of interior finish money while occupied.

There's one poor shmoe in that picture. One. It's not like the office was the nerve center of the campaign at that time.

But why would it look like that? Was the previous tenant Kiss or something?

You know, I have no idea. I am just saying that as little money as possible is spent on offices for a campaign. They're the epitome of temporary. In my day, they would have strung network cables and phone lines hanging from the ceiling. Today, they could do almost everything wireless.

But why would it look like that? Was the previous tenant Kiss or something?

It's not uncommon for a commercial lease to require a tenant to return a space to "walls and ceiling" after they end their lease. Commercial land lords rarely, if ever, pay for tenant improvements and want the next occupant to be able to build to their needs.

Would not surprise me at all that trump had unused space, put in the bare minimum of electric and phone lines, some basic walls and called it headquarters.

They may have started a spec renovation to show the space but then stopped when the boss took over the space.

As you said, renovations in these spaces are cheap compared to rent. Most places let the new tenant do the design, but occasionally empty space that has an odd layout will either be cleared or renovated to a more traditional layout before it is put back on the market.

It wasn't the space his hair guy used, was it?

I've worked for more than a dozen campaigns. And they all have been some office like that. Absolutely nothing is finished. I seriously doubt that even especially Trump would bother to spend the money or time to finish any of it. You make do.

This is what you said, I quote:
No he is not.

And yet that's what Nate Silver said. Trump closed the gap by 2 percent.

I see that you have failed to address the moving of goalposts, your failure to read and/or understand the article - what a shock

Another Red State is in play.

For a campaign that Trump said would turn traditional blue states red, he sure is putting a lot of red states in play. The latest is Missouri. Latest poll has Clinton and Trump tied In Missouri.

Remember, just a few months ago when Trump said he was going to change the entire dynamic of the usual race and how he was going to win Michigan, Pennsylvania and even New Jersey?

Well that sure doesn't look very promising. But it does look like he kept his promise in changing the electoral dynamics. Virginia looks to be a lock for Clinton and Florida and North Carolina are getting out of reach for the Trumpster. This election, the battleground states seem to be Arizona, Georgia and Missouri. Kind of hard to win when your opponent seems to have a stranglehold on 320 votes.
