Hillary Clinton is Done: part 3

[snipped everything that missed the whole point of my post.]
Color me unsurprised along with not outraged. Yes, in this one area an expert in security was appalled. I am appalled quite often at physicians that don't know as much as they should about infectious diseases, my specialty. Surprisingly some of them are excellent physicians in spite of their deficits.

The point is that if someone else also did something wrong, that doesn't get her off the hook. And to keep chanting "Colin Powell" doesn't explain anything; why didn't she find out what her immediate predecessor, Condi Rice, did and build on that?

Colin Powell Says Hillary Clinton's People Trying to Pin Email Scandal on Him

On Friday, the New York Times reported that Clinton told FBI officials former Secretary of State Colin Powell had advised her to use a personal email account while she held the Secretary of State office herself.

"Her people have been trying to pin it on me," Powell told PEOPLE Saturday night.

Powell's office released a statement to NBC News, saying "he did write former Secretary Clinton an email memo describing his use of his personal AOL email account for unclassified messages."

"The truth is, she was using the private email server for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did," Powell added.

Yep, blame the black guy; it's all Colin Powell's fault.

Apart from her emails, if she was using her position as one of the highest officials in the government to solicit contributions to her private foundation, ...
And yet surprisingly, the only thing people can find (and you know damn well they looked) was that there was some potential for quid pro quo. Evidence there actually was any, not so much.

If you examined the emails of any member of Congress and their staff, you would find a very similar pattern. People request favors, it's the name of the game. It's whether they get them that matters.

The Clintons have done an incredible job getting the rich and powerful to donate to the poor and desperate. Color me more impressed than outraged.

While Clinton was secretary of state, her department approved $165 billion worth of commercial arms sales to Clinton Foundation donors.

How many billions of commercial arms sales did the DoS approve to non-donors?

It's not a question of evil or corrupt. The relevant words are careless and irresponsible. Colin Powell became SecState in 2001, and Clinton in 2009. Eight years is an eternity in the tech world. During that time government regulations and requirements changed substantially, and Clinton failed to comply with them. Powell's successor and Clinton's predecessor, Condoleezza Rice, was the most obvious person for Clinton to consult and emulate, and Rice did not use private email. And as Comey observed, even a Gmail account is protected from intrusion by Google's vast resources, while Clinton's basement server was protected -- if at all -- by one ex-campaign worker.

Once again, it's obvious that Clinton was evading federal record-keeping and Congressional access requirements, and her subsequent numerous, conflicting explanations are a smoke screen. Whether Powell or anybody else also did something wrong doesn't mitigate Clinton's misconduct.
I could understand you originally believing the motives were nefarious but how can you in light of the evidence we now have not change your mind?

Why ask me about something I've not posted?
Because I thought that's what you were saying.

]The use of private e-mail accounts and the use of private servers are separate matters, so I think it's worth keeping the facts straight regarding what Powell did and did not say to Clinton.
...snip...
I think it is a valid distinction but only to those that already understand the distinction. I would be very surprised if the majority of the population would be able to tell what the difference between the two actually is.
Feel free to clarify, I have no claim to correctly following what people are saying in this thread.

A reasonable person would have done what previous SoS's have done when they didn't want to use govt. email: create an email account using one of the various companies that specialize in emails: AOL, Google, etc. It would have taken Clinton two minutes to set up a Gmail account. Why did she want a private server for her non-government emails? No one else in her position has ever done that before.
Because having a private server provides vastly more control than using a public service (as Powell did).

BINGO! That way she could destroy pesky little emails like she tried to do here while keeping them unavailable under FOIA!

I think you are getting it now!

And this is still all you have.

Cheney/Rumsfeld, on the other hand,
Deleted massive numbers of emails https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_White_House_email_controversy

Outed an American spy for political reasons https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plame_affair

Fabricated evidence and presented it to the UN, Congess and the American people https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council_and_the_Iraq_War

And all you have is a technical error.

For real.

Does anyone really think this would have been viewed better if she had just used a hotmail or gmail account?

Oh please. No, in that case, it would have been an even bigger outrage, because she used a PUBLIC server, instead of a private server.

"She didn't even have the smarts to at least make it a private server on her own computer. She used a friggin HOTMAIL account for pete's sake!"

Any proof for your conspiratorial allegations?

You mean other than the fact she admitted they were destroyed and the fact that they were not made available for FOIA requests until after she was gone from State for years, and she knew it?

And this is still all you have.

****, put Cheney in the jail cell right next to your hero Hillary.

Strawman accusation ad hominem with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response "your hero Hillary" doesn't apply in my case, but thanks for playing.

Sometimes the tactic works so well that the thread gets moderated for a bit. I'm glad that people seem to be seeing through such tactics this time.

What evidence do you mean? We know the FBI determined that there weren't sufficient grounds to file criminal charges. That doesn't mean Clinton didn't display bad judgment or violate established federal protocols, in the opinions of both the FBI Director and the State Department Inspector General. And her numerous lies about her emails -- even this weekend when she claimed Colin Powell told her to install a private server -- reveal a core character flaw that casts a shadow over everything she does.

....

Sure, it would have been an outrage, too. But the argument is that an established commercial operator (Google? Microsoft?) is better protected against hackers than Clinton's basement server run by an ex-campaign worker.

An underlying issue is that she has lived in a bubble for so long that no one around her could tell her why she needed to use a work account for her work business, and private accounts for her personal business, like most of us do.

I don't believe Clinton used the term "server", but maybe I'm wrong. Can you provide a cite?
The rest of it, however, appears to be corroborated by an email the FBI recovered wherein Powell discusses how much his use of a personal email improved communication. So what made it a lie?
