People in China adopting custom-made white babies?

I finally talked to my friend and said, "So, your girlfriend manufactures anchor babies?" And got that yes, this is definitely the case. I was spectacularly wrong about something: Though they use donor sperm AND egg, IVF and a surrogate, they want Chinese-American genes. They don't want white genes. Apparently they favor graduates of Harvard as donors.

This says something nice about the regard for U.S. universities, somewhere where we still have prestige.

Down the road maybe they want their kids to go to Harvard.

Cool. Got a link?

Cos you know, it could sound like bollocks.

Like, you know. If it is so secret how do they get their kids into Harvard.

And like. Why would they chose the U.S.?

Is it like really special?

What sounds like bollocks, and by what metric do you measure these bollocks?

Foreigners can travel to the US. That's part's not bollocks.

Foreigners can have medical procedures performed while they are here. So it isn't that part either.

IVF is an industry that exists, has gene donation sources and third party gestational surrogates, so not that, and as I've said upthread the rules for IVF are the Wild West, so nothing legally prevents the transaction/proceedure from the medical regulatory side, so not that either.

Is it the anchor baby part? Or the Harvard genetics portion? Because those aren't bollocks, really, just hypothetical with the information available.

Who who works for? The Friend Of A Friend underlying the entire conversation thread based on anecdotal reports? She probably works for a random IVF clinic. What would you do with the information if you had it?

It would give some evidence

I just think it sounds like bollocks.

Why would they not chose Europe with the most prestigious unis in the world and can travel all over the place?

No apparently they think the US is the awesomest

You seem to be using your goalposts as a butterfly net, running all over the planet looking for reasons to some thing or other I've not figured out.

Is there anything besides a deep, prejudicial antipathy against los estados unidos behind your "I just think" argument by feels? Are you somehow convinced Harvard is not a prestigious institute that draws students from around the world?

The US might have the best IVF technology in the world. I don't know, but our profit-driven medical research industry has done a pretty good job. And our IVF laws and rules allow gestational surrogacy, which many countries don't. Just the financial and legal aspects of getting a surrogate pregnancy baby are easier in the US, even if everything else is equal, which they're not.

I just want proof to your claims.

"My claims? What claims are those?" he asked, bewilderedly dodging the incoming butterfly net.

I've merely provided experienced insight into the surrogacy industry. Perhaps if you posted longer thoughts they would be more answerable.

The Zhangs are part of a growing number of Chinese families that are hiring American women as surrogate mothers, spawning a lucrative industry that spans two continents.
"I've never seen anything like what I've seen with the Chinese," said John Weltman of Boston-based agency Circle Surrogacy. "It's like an explosion."
Paying Americans to carry their children allows Chinese to circumvent their home country's restrictive policies on reproduction -- surrogacy is illegal, and despite recent reforms, families still face penalties if authorities learn they have more than one child.

Well the CNN Money link shows it happens. This just adds a few details.

They make a big donation to Harvard? And who say's it's secret?

Why would they chose the U.S.?

Is it like really special?

U.S. higher education has a good reputation. I don't know if it's warranted but having a degree from an Ivy League school is prestigious.

But your stuck in the U.S.

Yeah, but we don't need to sneer across our teacups at others to feel better about our position in the world here, so there's that.

Also, "your"? Seriously.
Not sneering at all. Just asking for evidence

If I wasn't crap at grammar I wouldn't have my label below my user name.

I'm slightly dyslexic. Deal with it

Have a response to the links I've provided of news articles from last year and the year before discussing the increasing trend of Chinese families engaging IVF/surrogacy services in the United States?

And for the record, I've never found your posts representative of embarrassing illiteracy. Your grammatical errors are few.
