Fought at a time when the practice was being outlawed in the northern United States, the duel had immense political ramifications. Burr, who survived the duel, was indicted for murder in both New York and New Jersey, though these charges were later either dismissed or resulted in acquittal.

I think he's trying to distract everyone from his son's comments that women who are sexually harassed are so because they aren't strong. It's all their fault!

"...was being outlawed" is the key term. Not "was outlawed".

Again, depended on where you were and what year it was. Wasn't illegal in Missouri until 1822. Some states were decades later.

Unless events somehow turn things his way, he is going to grow increasingly unhinged. It is hard to see how could go much lower than he already has, but I'm guessing he will somehow manage.

I think the next step is F-Bombs and / or physical violence at one of his rallies. He'll forget that he's 70, much like he forgets everything else.

I was telling this to my wife last night. The only way I can think of to curtail his Tang-fueled stupidity is to have someone from the Secret Service flat out tell him he'll get no protection from them. Given his disdain for the armed forces, I'd say that's a non-zero eventuality.
