I think he refuses to concede the election and calls on his supporters to somehow upstage or disrupt the innaugeration.

Not sure what Trump himself will do, but this comment and his campaign is seeding the CT Right with ample mad material for years to come. I wouldn't be surprised at quite a number of small incidents of people taking potshots at government offices and similar.

What Trump has done is finally swing open the door the Republicans have made for many Americans to flee to myth, wishful thinking, and emotional reality ("people are saying") as a legitimate source of opinion. He will leave the country in much, much worse state than before this campaign, win or lose. Toxic.

No, I don't believe a nominee has ever dropped out. I suppose the Republicans could put up another nominee if it happened soon enough, but after a certain point, they would just be screwed. Not that Donald would be bothered in the slightest about the GOP being screwed.

Yep. Closest we ever came to a drop outwas when Greeley, after unofficially losing, had the bad timing to die. Talk about your upset losers.

But he'd lost the popular vote and was going to be the loser in the EC. Since that's Trumps likely election outcome this year, maybe he could model his career after old Horace? It'd save us the pain of listening to him in his dotage going on about how great he truly was and how no one understands that he really won and how hot his daughter is not to mention Melanija's replacement who he's flying in from Bulgaria for his eightieth birthday.

There is a current blip in the polls due Trump's inept handling of Khizir Kahn's criticism. I think Trump has two motivations behind his "vote is rigged" spiel, to provide a smokescreen in the unlikely (to him) event that he is not elected and to motivate supporters and independents to get out there and vote for him to offset the "rigging" that is taking place.

I find it troubling that folks seem to find comfort in one poll or another showing Trump with a 5 or 7 percent deficit. In a sane world, he would have a 99 or 100 percent deficit. This is not a sane world. That alone ought to worry people.

What Donald Trump needs to do is to borrow that "Woman's Card" from Hillary Clinton for a while.

If the Donald has that card, then he will be able to get at least ten more votes than he would get without the card.

Oh I agree with you. To a rational person. To Trump a 1% loss would be a humiliation only explained by a complex conspiracy.

And yet he has a (admittedly diminishing) chance of becoming President. Sometimes I wake up thinking I've simply imagined Trump. He is literally unbelievable to me.

If it wasn't serious Trump definitely would be the funniest. I watch his rallies and listen to his interviews and find him hiighly entertaining until I think this guy is the Republican nomination for President.

I go back and forth on that. To me, some of it is so over the top that I think, "no. That is too much. If they had dialed it down to about 70% of this, it would be a hilarious character. But yelling at fire marshals after being rescued by firefighters? That is too ridiculous for me to suspend my disbelief."

Maybe he is alluding to the fact that the Republicans have rigged the elections with their Voter-ID laws and voter registration purges. He's saying he will win because the election is rigged.
