It has nothing to do with that. You announce it at a particular time for attention. If Trump was riding a wave of positive media, an announcement might break that wave replacing it with news cycles focused on you and your campaign. Or if your opponent is getting bad press, you don't want to interrupt it.

Right this moment the focus is on Germany announcing at this moment is not likely to get the headline which is what you want. But you can't wait forever.

Kaine is so boring, I fell asleep during Clinton's tweet.

Would have liked to have seen Castro. In any case, Kaine appears to be a safe, middle-of-the road, Senate favorite. He'll be good as the White House's ambassador to Congress.

I worry that a reasonable person is a bad pick this season. While Clinton and Kaine calmly talk about how to move forward in incremental steps, a great deal of the country (left and right) would rather hear wild, impossible promises shouted by what used to be the fringe minority.
