You sound like some sort of prophet, false I must admit---you see I am one of those that Jesus spoke of---
Mar 9:1 And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Kingdom of God come with power."

No, you're not. You are a magical thinker who is constructing delusional fantasies to cope with the loss of security you feel as a result of the changes in your world. As time goes by, you'll learn your lesson about making concrete predictions that can clearly be falsified, and you'll evolve a more ambiguous style of prophecy.

Now you are really confused—marriage in its pure state, is as Jesus state, the two become one, and as such will remain together until death takes one.

If a man divorces his wife and marries another woman, he will be an adulterer, and the wife if she marries another man while her husband is alive will become an adulteress.

So holy matrimony means holy not defiled---to marry another woman while the wife is still alive will result in the defilement of the parties involved.( Lev_18:20 "'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbour’s wife and defile yourself with her. )

So a man defiles himself in this way----(Luk 16:18 "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.)

So to be in holy matrimony is as God ordained.

And that still leaves the possibility that your wife left you, but that neither you nor she has entered into another relationship since she left.

Can you see how your reluctance to state a simple confirmation could lead to suspicion that you are hiding something?

Why do you think women need persuasion to have sex? I have had a few ask me (I am a handsome devil). I needed no further persuasion.

Go back and read his posts about women engaging in sex. Very little if anything is said of the woman's consent. His view of human sexuality strikes me a creepy and more than a bit rapey.

How...odd. You claim that this "day and age" is corrupt; yet you alter the clear words of your "scripture" to fit this corrupt day and age. It is as if the actual meaning of the clear words of your "scripture" is not good enough for you, so you make free to pretend it means whatever you want it to mean...

...even if you claim that the "prophecy" means something different than it did when it was said to be said to have been prophesied...

Again, it is as if the actual meanings of the actual words in your "scriptures" does not matter to you.

Actually, the "144k" were a group of men in a vision. According to your "scriptures", they were characterized as the "ones who had not defiled themselves with women"--that is, they were "virgin" (a technical term with a precise meaning--that is, "ones who has not had sex"). It is dishonest to pretend that, in this case (and this case only) "virginity" might encompass sexually active men. It is dishonest of you to pretend that "defiled" and "women" are equally ambiguous.

It is, however, patently clear to the most casual observer (to say nothing of those of us who actually read the languages involved, as you confess you do not) that your manufacture of a spurious ambiguity is the only way you can continue to pretend that a sexually active man can be accurately described as "virgin"...

...I wonder if it has occurred to you that a homosexually active man would qualify as not having "defiled himself" with "women"...

The actual meanings of the actual words in the actual contexts of your "scriptures" are immaterial to your fantasies.

No, not once. The passage in Corinthians is a simile (it might even be considered a metonymy, but that's a discussion for a different, more gramatically rigorous, audience).

Not if you want to pretend that παρθένος actually has a lexical meaning.

Despite your need to pretend that you are (or will be) numbered in that number "that no man can number" the one who "qualify" (if your "scriptures" are to be taken to have any meaning at all) as παρθένοι are the ones who "have not defiled themselves with women" (which, among other things, gives a not-very-reassuring picture of the mindset of whoever actually wrote the "Book of 'John's' Revelation").

QUOTE=Paul Bethke;11392445]So when you take the accusations Jesus brings against some of the Churches in the Revelation, it is clear that there was sexual immorality in the Churches.<scripturesnip>

So you see SV the Church had those in it that were not pure.—( Rev 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.)

So the 144k were those who did not defile themselves with woman—they kept themselves PURE.

No, not at all. what made the "144K" in the hallucination
καθαρόι
was that they had not ἐμολύνθησαν with γυναικῶν; that is, they were παρθένοι.

No matter how often you fallaciously attempt to pretend it works backwards.

No matter how you try to disregard what I say, the Scriptures are clear on who the redeemed are in the past and in the present. To be born again as Jesus put it, it is the same today. To repent as Jesus put it, it is the same today.

The vision given to John, was for the purpose to encourage the Church during the time of persecution that was being inflicted upon it.
So the 144 k were those who had overcome the temptation.( Rev 6:11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed. )

So what there is today, is the same, to find those who have not defiled themselves with woman.

The homosexuals must repent---(1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
1Co 6:10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

So here Paul is addressing the Church in his day, showing what people were and what they can become.

The 144k virgins were those who had been washed and sanctified, and justified—the defining term is defiled—they did not defile themselves---this also applies to the redeemed today, they keep themselves pure.(I know it is a vision)

So the purpose is that a vision was given that has meaning today, in the correct context.

You see SV the Gospel and the plan of God for the salvation of the world is the same today as it was in the time of Jesus. The problem in the Churches then is the same as what there is today—the Church was infiltrated by false teachers, who corrupted the teachings of Jesus.

(2Pe_2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
Jud_1:4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality ; and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

I am still obliged to you for your persistence.

Doesn't say anything about as many relations as you like with women who are nobodies wife at all, does it? Bigamy much?

This only supports your position to the extent that marriage = sex (or sex=marriage if you prefer). It doesn't. I have had one marriage but multiple partners.

So to be in holy matrimony is as God ordained.
Actually, no. It is simply your interpretation of words in the bible, words you have been shown not to understand at all.

That is partly true, but since I came onto the Forum, I have had to consider all the evidence that has been presented. This spurs me on to look at these 1001 contradictions.

There is always an explanation.

Well, you've got 1,001 explanations to process.

http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html

Speaking of things you need to process, you still haven't answered my question about your compliance to this law:

35Ex. 20:14 — Not to kidnap — Yemenite->Ex. 20:13

Is kidnapping and rape how you got your wife? Such behavior would be consistent with your stated opinions about sexuality and marriage. Heck, you could have her chained in the basement against her will and as long as you sent the right quantity of silver coins to her father (anonymously no doubt) it would me a "marriage" consistent with what you've written.

That's one problem with your coy avoidance of direct answers. It leaves a LOT of room for possibilities.

Note to moderators: I am not seriously suggesting or implying he kidnapped and raped a woman and chained her in the basement to have a "wife." I am using hyperbole to illustrate the demented excesses allowed in his "interpretation" of scripture.

Or prophesying. I have a better chance at being right about that than PB has of withering the grass at the 2010 World Cup.

You are claiming that jesus was married, or did jesus rebel against god? Which?

At the time, as an active messianic rabbi, it would have been most odd not to have been married. People would have remarked on that. Yet they did not, almost as if he were married. And we have a candidate as jesuswife per biblical description.

I think it is perfectly valid to point out the consequence of the claims made, but I oscillate between whether or not PB has done so. Either way, the consequences are pretty icky.

So you're a 2,000 year old false prophet who keeps kosher and expects to be in a heavenly choir whose membership is restricted to Jewish virgin men.

OMFG! You're the Wandering Jew!!!!

Dude, why haven't you gone on the talk show circuit? Why aren't you writing history books?

It occurs to me, if he and his "wife," should she exist, are both still virgins, then it would explain why he thinks he can get into a heavenly choir reserved for the holiest of Jewish virgin men.

It would also explain why he has been so coy about if he and his wife have children.

I'm am pretty sure what the likely scenario is. The MA prevents.

You do keep me amused---to commit adultery, applies to a man or a woman.

Marriage is as Jesus put it--the two will become one--so the man who joins himself to a virgin through sex is married to her for life, and if he does not stay with her he commits adultery, for which he will be judged.(Heb 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. )

I do not hate woman, what gives you that idea?
I loved my mother, I love my wife, I love my daughter, and woman have played a vital role in the economy of the Creator.

I just want to warn woman that they must stay virgins until the day they marry a man of good reputation, that is if there are any around.

I want people to stay faithful in their matrimony, because adultery is a destructive force that can only result in sorrow.
Most of the cased where people fall out is adultery—men are unfaithful and women are unfaithful.

Pro_5:20 Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife?
Pro_6:24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.
Pro_6:29 So is he who sleeps with another man's wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.
Pro_7:5 they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.
Pro_23:27 for a prostitute is a deep pit and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

But on the other hand---

Pro 31:10-12 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

You are really trying to corrupt things but that is expected of you---Tit 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

To the mods—just responding to his insinuations.

At the time, as an active messianic rabbi, it would have been most odd not to have been married. People would have remarked on that. Yet they did not, almost as if he were married. And we have a candidate as jesuswife per biblical description.

It appears that neither Jesus or Paul were married---1Cor 7:7 I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

You do keep me amused---to commit adultery, applies to a man or a woman.
But a man can be forgiven and a woman cannot. According to you. Have you so swiftly forgotten what you posted in this very thread? Were you lying about that?

Marriage is as Jesus put it--the two will become one--so the man who joins himself to a virgin through sex is married to her for life, and if he does not stay with her he commits adultery, for which he will be judged.(Heb 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. )
What a crock.

I do not hate woman, what gives you that idea?
Men can be forgiven, women cannot. That is your claim. To you, women are nothing but chattel.

I loved my mother,
Oedipus rex.

I love my wife,
Who does she live with now?

I love my daughter,
I have two daughters. Atheist daughters.

and woman have played a vital role in the economy of the Creator.
WTF? The economy of the what now?

I just want to warn woman that they must stay virgins until the day they marry a man of good reputation, that is if there are any around.
Creepy. Women must stalk prospective husbands. Creepy.

I want people to stay faithful in their matrimony, because adultery is a destructive force that can only result in sorrow.
Most of the cased where people fall out is adultery—men are unfaithful and women are unfaithful.
And in your borked world, the men are forgiven but the women are not.

Pro_5:20 Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife?
Because she has nice boobies, perhaps?

Pro_6:24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.
Nope. I agreed not to reveal the effect of those smooth tongues. I am morally bound. Pretty sweet though.

Pro_6:29 So is he who sleeps with another man's wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.
Oddly, this does not happen in the real world. Why is that?

Pro_7:5 they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.
Pro_23:27 for a prostitute is a deep pit and a wayward wife is a narrow well.
Like hell they will.

But on the other hand---

Pro 31:10-12 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
At last we get to it. Women are goods to you.

And my ex brought me plenty of harm. Quit your lying.

You are really trying to corrupt things but that is expected of you---Tit 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Mods nothing. You're refusing to answer a question about having kidnapped anyone. The police might be a better party to involve.

For the record, being called "corrupted" by a proven false prophet isn't a bad thing. Quite the opposite. It tells me I'm on the right track

It appears that neither Jesus or Paul were married---1Cor 7:7 I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

Yet again you're missing the forest for the trees. The textual evidence suggests that Paul was married and that he was expressing frustration at being married while being persecuted.

http://theapologeticchristian.blogspot.com/2011/09/apostle-paul-was-not-single.html

Some suspect he was divorced and bitter but that's always struck me as unnecessarily trying to explain misogyny that was typical for the time and place where he lived.
