Hillary Clinton is Done: part 2

Yep, he sent me a code for a $100 Amazon gift card without me even asking.

I am now inconvenienced by needing to rearrange the baskets on my mental desk to make room for one labeled "reasons to begin respecting sunmaster14."

I don't think it needs to be a very large basket.

The Pubbies are so mad. "Special Prosecutor," "go after Lynch for shirking her responsibilities," "Congressional hearings," "revoke Clinton's security clearance,"

So typical of the right wing.

I've never bet like this, seems to me paying a debt shouldn't be note worthy.

Given the subject matter, the personal bias, and the general contention, and keeping mind this is a "bet", it is. It didn't even require interpretation, which often take up more time than it should.

ETA: I also won on the bet, but with Slings and Arrows, who has completely disappeared . . .

If Hillary installed her servers (multiple servers, according to Comey) to prevent Congress from accessing official communications that they are legally entitled to request, as apparently she did, that would be a legitimate basis for Congressional hearings entirely apart from the issue of whether she handled classified material "extremely carelessly," in Comey's words.

Also, the head of FBI is a Republican so he had the agenda of trying to make the declaration that they had no evidence of wrong doing sound as awful as he could.

He didn't say no wrongdoing, he said no proof of a crime that could be successfully prosecuted. You're willing to believe him when he says no provable crime, but you're not willing to believe him when he reports "extremely careless" misconduct?

I'll tell you what I do know Bob.
It is NOT evidence of corruption.
It is NOT evidence of something sinister.
It is NOT evidence of an attempt to hide government business.
It is NOT evidence of dirty political tricks.
It is NOT evidence of the outing of CIA agents.

What it was was a mistake. NOTHING MORE.
It was an error. NOTHING MORE
It was careless NOTHING MORE.

It is NOT evidence of ANYTHING CRIMINAL.

Thank you for your time.

And this is one area where Comey specifically did not find evidence of wrong doing.

Perhaps you should go re-read his statement with that in mind. While he said some emails were erased he clearly noted none of it was purposeful, ergo he did not find evidence Clinton was trying to avoid FOIA.

Perhaps you're reading something that isn't actually there. The intent of the FBI investigation was to determine whether laws regarding handling of classified information were broken:
Our investigation looked at whether there is evidence classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on that personal system, in violation of a federal statute making it a felony to mishandle classified information either intentionally or in a grossly negligent way, or a second statute making it a misdemeanor to knowingly remove classified information from appropriate systems or storage facilities.

He determined that a crime couldn't be proven. He didn't say a word about whether the initial purpose of the private servers was to evade Congressional inquiries and FOIA requests, which might not be a federal crime but would certainly be a subject of interest to the Congress. The issue is not what was erased or by whom, but what was not properly stored in official archives in the first place.

Are you unhappy you can't use that new rope Bob?

Now, the question is are you really with her?

Or are you too cheap to pay up? LOL.

So Clinton avoided indictment. Extreme carelessness didn't quite reach the bar of "gross negligence". Probably the classification system is very byzantine, and a lot of people make mistakes mishandling info, and if we prosecuted them all, we'd be frog marching platoons of civil servants off to jail, and it would just be ridiculous. Best to prosecute the extreme offenders, which Comey apparently didn't think Clinton was.

Fair enough, I stand by Comey's judgement. He's a Republican, has integrity, has been in public service for a long time. It's very unlikely Comey, at this point in his life, would suddenly morph into a corrupt spineless pol that Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch could put the screws to and bend to their will.

That being said, Comey's news conference was brutal. The GOP, as is its nature, is busy snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I think a smart political party with a non-crazy candidate could have made the FBI report fatal to Clinton. Instead, the GOP, and it's crazy nominee, are frothing at the mouth about conspiracies, and the reasonable GOP members, who are trying to point out that the FBI report is itself a scathing indictment of Clinton, are being drowned out by the crazies.

So Clinton lives to fight another day, and will probably beat Trump.
