Bullish on Bernie: The Bernie Sanders 2016 Thread II

No, if my spouse had already made over a hundred million I would not give speeches to Goldman Sachs.

But where do you draw the line,...
How about drawing the line based on evidence. This is old crap you are regurgitating.

Sanders: Clinton got paid a lot for speeches.
Press: Any evidence she actually did anything for G.Sachs?
Sanders: No but of course we all know she did.
Press: But you can't cite a single thing?
Sanders: We have to get money out of politics.
Press: So no evidence of Clinton taking money in a quid pro quo then.

Yeah I would take the NRA's money if they were stupid enough to give it to me for so little work though they might not like what I would have to say. Better me have the money than them.

Uh, no. You have to take the money and give a speech they would be comfortable with, like how Clinton did at GS:

NEW YORK — When Hillary Clinton spoke to Goldman Sachs executives and technology titans at a summit in Arizona in October of 2013, she spoke glowingly of the work the bank was doing raising capital and helping create jobs, according to people who saw her remarks.

So, you would take the NRA's money and speak glowingly about the good work they do?

So in your mind, GS is all black/evil, they couldn't possibly have an ounce of white/good in there anywhere?

Clinton, who received $225,000 for her appearance, praised the diversity of Goldman’s workforce and the prominent roles played by women at the blue-chip investment bank and the tech firms present at the event. She spent no time criticizing Goldman or Wall Street more broadly for its role in the 2008 financial crisis....
The Clinton Foundation has been partnering with GS in their 10,000 women campaign.
In 2008, based on a growing body of research to support the economic opportunity of investing in women, Goldman Sachs launched 10,000 Women to provide women entrepreneurs around the world with business management education, mentoring and networking, and access to capital. To date, the initiative has reached over 10,000 women from across 56 countries and resulted in immediate and sustained business growth for graduates of the program.

Hillary's Goldman Sachs speech: "10,000 Women: Proving the Case for Women Entrepreneurs"
Anabella De Leon of Guatemala pointed to Hillary Clinton, who was sitting right in the front row, and said, “I met her and my life changed.” And all weekend long, women from all over the world said the same thing:

“I’m alive because she came to my village, put her arm around me, and had a photograph taken together.”

“I’m alive because she went on our local TV and talked about my work, and now they’re afraid to kill me.”

“I’m alive because she came to my country and she talked to our leaders, because I heard her speak, because I read about her.”

I’m here today because of that, because of those stories.

I didn’t know about this. I never knew any of it. And I think everybody should know. This hidden history Hillary has, the story of her parallel agenda, the shadow diplomacy unheralded, uncelebrated – careful, constant work on behalf of women and girls that she has always conducted alongside everything else a First Lady, a Senator, and now Secretary of State is obliged to do.

For $250k I would probably give a speech saying that they did good work with teaching gun safety or something. I would rather I have the money than them. Plus promoting gun safety is a good thing.

Oh no, I must be a secret Republican stooge of the NRA.

Not really, if I was in the position to enact gun control, I still would, not giving the slightest **** that the NRA once payed me a lot of money for a speech.

It's really funny if you click the links to this vast movement. I won't do FB, but can check the Tweets. The various Twitter accounts are getting a post or two per day. More than half of those are other politicos promoting their own agendas. I do love how the count keeps going up.... Someone - not sure if it was Cestnick - said they're aiming for a million protesters. Laurie Cestnick did say in a post that they're fighting to register TWENTY MILLION NEW VOTERS IN THE NEXT MONTH. Sure you are, Laurie.

BTW, does anyone know if that's the same Laurie Cestnick who is Dr. Laurie Cestnick, Psychologist specializing in high functioning autism spectrum. This may all be a research paper. :p

I clicked on the link to the CT/NY/NJ Facebook page. There's probably 20 million people, give or take, in the NYC metro area. How many do you suppose they got to commit to go to Philly (only about a three-hour drive for me here in CT, less for those in NYC)? A few hundred, maybe? No.

Eleven.

The vast movement is something less than vast. Maybe half-vast.

To be fair, many of them are still waiting for mom & dad to say yes.

The BernieOrBust Movement is like the Truth Movement. Far bigger in the vacuum of their own heads than in the cold hard reality of the real world.

Has anyone linked to the Sanders donor's lawsuit yet?

Hard to wade through the lawsuit with 100+ names mentioned individually again and again to establish they spent money and how they are party to the suit.

Despite there being every indication that the 2016 Democratic primary would be contested by multiple candidates, including Sanders, the DNC Memo makes no mention of any Democratic candidate except Clinton, and builds the DNC’s election strategy on the assumption that Clinton will be the nominee, with no doubts attached. Rather than reflecting an “impartial” or “evenhanded” approach to the nominating process, as required by the Charter, the DNC Memo strongly indicates that the DNC’s entire approach to the process was guided by the singular goal of elevating Clinton to the general election contest

I'm wondering how an assumption Clinton would win, given she did, is tantamount to actions rigging the game. They are going to have to show specific actions that changed the outcome and those actions are incredibly thin. The debate schedule was changed. The denial of access to the donor files was caused by Sanders' staff and only lasted a day or so. Whether primaries are open or closed is up to the state organizations, plus Sanders won a lot of caucuses that represent much smaller though more enthusiastic numbers of voters. But it's the vote total that counts, not how zealously you vote.

I know a lot of people find it hard to believe their candidate lost, but in fact he did, by several million individual votes.

But [squawk] but but indictment [squawk - who's a pretty bird] superdelegates [squawk - polly wanna cracker] not nominated yet [squawk] voice of the people [squawk].

No surprise there, since you seem never to find a candidate you can vote for.....

I'm not into identity politics, but very much into public policy politics. I vote for policies not against or for individuals.

Show me a candidate that supports strong climate change regulation to include carbon taxes, single-payer healthcare, strict corporate oversight and regulation and promotes evidence-based, scientifically sound, public policy in general and I will support their candidacy whole-heartedly.

Clinton is as close as you are going to get.

Clinton is as close as you are going to get.

As her actions indicate that she doesn't support or promote any of those things, she is not close enough to earn any support from me or anyone else who takes those issues as serious, much less as the most serious issues facing our nation now and into the future.

Gotcha. You be sure to come back and tell us all about it often, okay? Be content sitting there at home and having no voice in things. Meh? I'm still supporting burrowing into the party with my personal quirky ideals and getting things back on track. Slowly, slowly catchee monkey. If the only candidate I can vote for has to pass a series of my own litmus tests on a series of issues, it may well be that I better run for the job, myself. No one's going to tick all the boxes. You play the hand you're dealt.

I repeat, Clinton is as close as you are going to get.

Feel free to throw your vote away on someone who has no chance in hell of winning.
