I am more than just a little suspicious of modern "scholarship" on this point. I think a lot of left wing historians have decided they had to rewrite the history of reconstruction because it made the newly freed slaves look like they were unsophisticated.

I didn't see any reasons to vote for her in this post, except maybe "Hillary is quite explicitly NOT running with any expectations of bipartisanship." Hell I'd probably vote for Clinton over sanders and I hate Hillary. Sanders is just that bad of an idea.

Hillary Clinton is not electable. That statement is truer about Hillary than it ever was for Bernie. Even though, for the length of the primaries, Hillary's campaign, as well as the Democratic establishment, has framed the narrative with their slogan, "Vote for Hillary, the other guy isn't electable." You can observe Hillary supporters parroting those same lines when cornered with the facts about Hillary's lackluster record.

It's frustrating. Even if I successfully demonstrate to Hillary supporters that Bernie is the candidate that most represents the issues they care about -- health care, income inequality, climate change, education, immigration, racial injustice -- many still feel Bernie Sanders is not electable.

I tell them that polls after polls show that Bernie has all the momentum; Bernie on average fares two points better against all the GOP candidates when compared to Hillary. When his campaign began he was at a few percentage points in the polls, Hillary having a 50 point lead. Now he's virtually tied with her. "Bernie Sanders is not electable. Polls don't matter now that he's caught up to her."

I tell them that Hillary gets the majority of her campaign donations from a small number of millionaires and billionaires while Bernie has received an unprecedented 2.5+ million individual donations. He wants to end the flow of big money into politics and he's leading by example. "Bernie Sanders is not electable. He doesn't look Presidential."

The party is pretty fracturwd in part because of trump but due to other things too. On the other hand an electorate generally pissed off at the establishment could override that and this applies to the democrat side as well. Guess we will get our first litmus test of this today with the first caucuses

The blinders are on, videos of Sanders praising Castro and Sanders wanting massive tax increases will not matter because people will intelligently look at his description of what a democratic socialist is and will see that the taxes will replace their current insurance costs.

Americans again name Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama the woman and man living anywhere in the world they admire most. Both win by wide margins over the next-closest finishers, Malala Yousafzai for women and Pope Francis and Donald Trump for men.
