wasapi expressed an interest in a poll concerning Steven Avery's guilt or innocence. I decided to post one, just to see what the majority of members here think.

ETA: I rewrote the questions to include Brendan Dassey as well.

Should we vote as if it were in a bet or as if we were jurors? With Steve, I'd bet he's guilty but I would vote "not guilty" if on jury because of reasonable doubt. I think Brendan is innocent and would bet that he was.

I suppose bet as if you were jurors, but simply knowing what you know...or thinking what you think. As ultimately it matters not "in the real world" but is interesting to see what everyone thinks.

Wasapi may feel differently though.

I voted both completely innocent. The poll would be kinda more fun if we could see who votes what, but probably too late for that.

I think Avery is probably guilty (he probably killed her), but the evidence is so hugely questionable that i could not vote guilty beyond a resonable doubt. I think Dassey is innocent or, at the ouside, only peripherally involved somehow.

I didn't vote. I think there's reasonable doubt for Avery and that Dassey is innocent.

Yes, I agree.

Reasonable doubt for Steven Avery. Maybe prosecutorial misconduct?

Sigh...I guess my growing dislike for Kratz fuels my desire for some
kind of smackdown for him.

Dassey seems completely lost and was without proper representation.

Thank you, DragonLady, this is what I was curious about. "Thinking what" I think, Avery is guilty. I'm not as sure about Dassey.

Avery may be guilty, but not beyond reasonable doubt. Dassey is innocent beyond just about any doubt whatsoever. I don't see a poll option that fits.

Sorry, everyone, I thought I covered the contingency of "one is guilty, but the other has reasonable doubt". I probably should've included a couple more options for "one is guilty, the other is entirely innocent".

I can't edit it now, but maybe one of the mods can add additional options?

If not, I guess we can consider the options three and four to be: one is guilty, the other has (at least) reasonable doubt)?

That's not quite it though - I was thinking something like Option 2, except for Dassey, it's not even a question of reasonable doubt; he should never have been charged in the first place.

I agree, option 2 is the closest but still not it.

DragonLady, if it won't let you add choices maybe it will let you edit choices? Maybe not, just a thought. I don't think anyone will ever pick Dassey guilty/ Avery innocent so if it's possible maybe that one could be edited to become reasonable doubt for Avery/ Dassey innocent.

Brendan is innocent. Steve looks pretty bad but I am not convinced beyond doubt he did it. If I accept planting of evidence, he has to be released whether he is guilty or not.
