Hillary Clinton is Done

To prove I'm not a blind Clinton supporter: The story now surfacing that highly classified intelligence was stored on Clinton's private email server worries me a great deal.

There still appears to be more investigating to do. For one thing, no secret information actually leaked due to the use of the server, nor is it clear how secure or insecure it was. It also appears that much information was not classified when sent.

But I see it as a serious problem.

FWIW, I'm strongly a Sanders supporter, but I assume Clinton was making a server *intentionally hack-able* there, with misinformation in whatever was hacked. The woman is smart, and loyal to America. NO WAY did she just open the US up to a national security breach.

I remain unimpressed. Do you suppose they might have found similar documents on Colin Powell's private email server if anyone had looked?

She didn't give classified material to her biographer. She didn't leave it out at the coffee shop.

Yes, maybe employees are held to a higher standard managing files than someone in a cabinet position. But I'll wait to see just who insists this is the crime of the century (and it needs to be someone besides some partisan hack in the Senate) before I'm going to start acting like this is a political scandal.

For me this remains a Fox News/Brietbart scandal until such time as an actual crime as opposed to a work error is charged.

Of course you remain unimpressed. The IG of the intelligence community is not a partisan hack. You on the other hand?

Yeah......

Our Libya intervention was a disaster.

And your alternative to supporting your NATO allies when they requested that help?

Our handling of Syria is a catastrophe.

And your solution that would have provided a better outcome?

Our withdrawl from Iraq (which Obama bragged about and Romney warned about) was been a cluster.

And you alternative considering that the Iraqi Government request the US to leave?

Russia has been carving up Ukraine.

And the US should have done.....? What would you do if Russia invaded and took all of the Ukraine?

Iran is walking all over us, even though we abandoned the green revolution and we've been trying to kiss up to them ever since.

And you solution is what? Stay with the same failing policies of the last 35 years?

China is building military bases in disputed territory.

And you would do.....?

For some unknown reason we backed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

Accepting the result of a democratic election is an unknown reason? What would you propose? That the US only recognizes democratically elected governments that it likes?

In most cases, yes, they were obviously worse than alternatives. China is the only arguable exception, though I think they have been emboldened by our failures elsewhere.

Yes there was: do nothing. Another option: don't try to smuggle weapons to Syrian rebels through Libya.

No. It was relatively stable. Obama even bragged about it being stable. He was warned that this stability could collapse if we left.

And those warnings were completely correct.

I'm not saying we should have backed Mubarik. But we chose to back the Muslim Brotherhood specifically, and that was a mistake. An easily avoidable one, too.

We're a "big bad" regardless of what we do. That's not what's holding Putin back.

No, it isn't. They're violating missile test bans. They're kidnapping our military personnel and holding them for ransom. They're giving every indication that they won't actually abide by the nuclear deal. We're getting shafted.

And our complete lack of any support, even simply rhetorical support, for the green revolution is really inexcusable.

This is what's called avoiding disasters?

You're kidding yourself. They are no less hostile.

No. It might possibly delay them getting nuclear arms, but it does nothing to decrease the likelihood. Given how much money they're getting out of the deal, the chances are going up, not down.

That's not terribly impressive. Or important.

They're more active out of necessity because we're failing. That's not really an achievement. And they're not doing so hot either. They're handling this "refugee" crisis completely wrong, for example.

The Soviets left Afghanistan in 1989, and we essentially abandoned the country. Twelve years later, Al Qaeda struck the US from bases in Afghanistan. Twelve years before we paid the biggest price for that mistake.

Do not imagine that you now have the full reckoning of Obama's mistakes.

If you're arguing about how the public will perceive things (rather than how things actually are), well, Hillary voted for the Iraq war, so this isn't really much of a defense of her.

Great post.

Please tell me you're joking.

Yeah, I'm totally mad those darn Mexicans keep bringing their work ethic and need for a new pair of shoes to our economy. It's totally making white Americans look lazy and selfish. I hate them for that.

Don't forget their food! It's full of cholesterol but so delicious that we can't stop eating it and thus they're actually murdering Americans!

Oh, I'm with you. This sounds like my theory about smart, loyal Ted kennedy. He must have found out that Mary jo was an enemy agent who had to be terminated. NO WAY did he leave an innocent person to die!

So, just popping in to point out that Nate Silver is giving Clinton a 64%-80% chance of winning Iowa. Please don't let this distract you from "I know a couple who knows a couple who claims to have swung with the Clintons".

Nate Silver is about as useful as a sack of rocks with regard to predicting such matters, one or two past successes notwithstanding. His credibility will be destroyed beyond redemption after this year.

This is in an entirety different league -- divorced from reality to a startling extent.

I really can't believe she'd be so stupid, in light of how the Chinese hacked Obama, Palin and McCain's computers and data in 2008. That was a big news story.

I couldn't believe Bill would be so stupid as to have sex with an intern in the White House*. And yet, he did. You really shouldn't dismiss the possibility here.

* amusing aside: I wrote that as one word, and Mozilla flags it as misspelled. The suggested alternatives included Whorehouse.

That is one hilarious aside. lol

I think Bill thought since JFK was a known adulterer and nobody really cared, nobody would care about him and Monica.

I'm not entirely dismissing the possibility that she was that stupid. It just seems less likely than other wild speculations I can come up.
