This is why there is concern about Hillary winning the Democratic nomination. People won't be coming out in huge numbers to vote for her like they did for Obama. Neither the base nor independents and the dems need that to win.

And about 10% approve of Congress yet the incumbents keep getting reelected.

Pretty sure her current poll numbers are good. As for running against Trump or Cruz, they are getting a bigger than I'd like to see but still not enough to win slice of ignorant voters. Sorry, but the the country's voters might be split close to 50:50 when it comes to Republicans and Democrats, but they aren't split 50:50 sane and insane.

I'm not convinced 50% of the voters are stupid enough to elect a completely whacked out President. There might be enough to get him the nomination. That's not saying much for the GOP. But it wouldn't surprise me when the votes are actually cast that a whole lot of people come out of the woodwork with a vote for sanity. The question is going to be, will that vote be split giving Trump the ticket, or not.

Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Bush, not too worried. Chris Christie, OTOH, is the guy the Democrats need to watch out for. He might be tainted but he talks a good schtick when he's campaigning.
 
Interestingly you can get people to not trust someone by simply talking about others don't trust them. The actual person might be fully trustworthy.

Indeed, there are a lot of people who aren't blind Democratic voters, who voted for her husband, Gore, Kerry, and even supported Hillary in the 2007 Dem primaries, but who will not vote for her if she is the Democratic nominee in 2016.

I'm very progressive, too bad Hillary isn't.

Are bookmakers psychic? They regularly set books showing an individual or a team are virtually unbeatable. When they set one after the contenders are known, Hillary will be unbackable.

I share this concern. I wish we had options other than these two flawed candidates. But alas.

I fully concur. I'm going to be one of those hold-your-nose Hillary votes because the Democratic Party, as a whole, doesn't seem even remotely close to the evils that the GOP would perpetrate. We've had too many years of "oh, those are just a noisy minority".... they're not. The person who'd vote for Trump is not that different in magnitude of wrong from the person who'd vote for Cruz or for Carson. They're all frightening, and that's largely become because the GOP is frightening.
 
I'm voting Sanders in the primary and whoever the dem nominee is in the election. I'm just saying that if it ends up being say Rubio v Hillary it's not going to be the landslide some expect. I think it will be very close and Rubio could win because he gets more of the base excited and out to vote than does Clinton.

I see no appreciable difference between Clinton and Sanders on the issues I care most about, particularly SCOTUS composition, mid-east policy (where's James Baker when you need him?), and global warming. That's why electability is my overriding concern by far and away. I am a proud, passionate member of the Not-The-Republican party.

This has been explained so many times, and none of the HRC Nuts get it!
Hillary is so hated by the right, and doesn't seem to really excite the left base! She will lose if made the nominee, and possibly quite badly!
Bernie is our only hope! I hope people finally start to pay attention. I won't be holding my breath.

I don't see how you can look at any one of the issues you say concern you most, and not find a gulf of difference between Hillary and Sanders and the policies they support?!

Well, I think we've already established that our concern is that you're paying so much attention to that gulf that you're ignoring the ocean of differences between either Hillary or Bernie and any GOP candidate. There was a time in the 60s when you could say that there really weren't major differences between the two main parties. That no longer applies. There is a very real threat to America out there, and it's the Republican Party. When the fringe is on the main stage and the reasonable voices no longer exist, the party's gone to hell.

Most Republicans know this, so why is the DNC trying to nominate a challenger that will unite and engage a very disinterested and depressed GOP electorate?!?!

the GOP electorate doesn't see a bit of difference between a Hussein Barry Obama socialist, a Hillary Rodham-Clinton socialist and a Bernie Sanders democratic socialist (except that they feel he is "at least honest enough to admit it")

IIRC, after the book is first made, bookmakers only reflect where the money has been placed. Hillary will only be unbackable if no-one bets on her opponent.

IOW, bookmakers' odds aren't a reflection of the true probability, they're a reflection of where the money has gone.

Me, too, but I would add to that: I don't understand what terrible things people think Clinton would do if she got into office. Specifically, what?
