RT turns ten...

It's funny because people get old and irrelevant.

Nah, there's nothing even remotely mean-spirited in this. I can come up on the fly with a couple of reasons why those 81 seconds are funny/cutesy/hilarious:

  • Both characters are very likable grumpy old men, with a little hint at Kerry's vanity with his new teeth and the fancy hat covering the big hair
  • It's actually an utopian, not dystopian future and we'd all have been very lucky if it turns out like this, given that
  • there's nothing on the news, just a nice day in the countryside
  • but that thing with "Noone is afraid of us anymore", which is actually a good thing and means that the Empire was abolished and the Republic restored. Today "the world" has good reasons to be afraid.
  • Then we have a little obligatory "Yes, we can" Obama trademark joke
  • Snowden is president and has ordered a new era of transparency of the surveillance apparatus. Snowden actually is first class presidential material which you should have noticed if you ever allowed him to get his message across
  • Kerry "propaganda bullhorn" trademark joke which they've used for self-promoting for quite some time already
  • Obama is nice enough to follow up while "secretly" watching the channel
  • There might be some label of drink joke that went over my head/expertise
  • Off into the sunset living happily ever after
  • I have to get my paycheck in this boring suburb of St. Petersburg

The day was the tenth. They held a conference with some relevant stuff you can find yourself if you're interested. The most evil among the recent Hitlers showed up to congratulate:

What's RT? I don't as a rule open YouTube videos posted here. Most people who open threads have the courtesy to explain what they are about.
