Christians are running out of places to shop!

It's getting hard out there for True Christians™. Along with their comrades in arms Real Americans™ the consumerist frenzy of the shopping season of Christmas (just as Jesus would have liked it) has become a real struggle.

I mean just where can they shop?

Linda Harvey of Mission America, who spends so, so much time thinking about gay sex in the name of Jesus, has written a lament about this:

“The problem is — what stores? For any Christian who wants to spend hard-earned dollars with family-friendly, Christian-affirming retailers, restaurants and service providers, the list is growing shorter all the time.”

According to her Macy’s, Target, Walmart, Amazon and JC Penney are no place fit for a True Christian to shop.

"That's okay" you say "I'll just go to Barnes & Noble, The Limited, Victoria's Secret, Staples and Foot Locker!"

Except that the American Family Association has them all blacklisted too. Supposedly they are all part of the war on Christmas. Speaking of which you'll have to cross out Dick's Sporting Goods, The Gap, Old Navy and TJ Maxx as well. According to the Liberty Council they are also not Christian or Christmas friendly.

Is this all too much to figure out? Can't wrap your brain around where a good Christian is supposed to shop? Just kick back with some Starbucks and.....oh......that's right.

I think the worse tragedy is that rational people are running out of places to get a college degree.

Give it time. The chance of finding a business with no LGBTQs in it has always been extremely small. Up till now many of them have been willing to hide it. But increasingly it will come out. I even suspect that the self-selected Mission America will find that it also has problems with its own "purity."

There are various studies indicating that at least 5%, and maybe 10% of any population is "gay." Especially the lower figure fits my own experiences. So any organization of more than 20 people is very likely to have LGBTQ in it. Given the problems that even conservative politicians with records of anti-gay legislation have had in public rest rooms and rent-a-friends, I would be very surprised if "they" aren't all around us everywhere we go. Even in Mission America. Some of "them" are probably found even among your relatives. And mine.

The lowest estimate I've seen is 3.8% nationally, although I have seen estimates of over 15% in certain LGBTQ-friendly communities. e.g.:

Of course it depends how you define the term. In some studies woman in general seem to be turned on by the sexuality of other women, so by that definition over 50% of the population is "gay." The numbers I cited are much stricter standards/

So let's pretend 2.5% LGBTQ.

At 28 people, you reach just over 50% chance that at least one employee is LGBTQ.

Any of those other numbers above make it much faster. At 10%, it's just 7 people. 15% is 5.

Though the more likely "crime" is the stores refusing to bend over for the conservative xtian/republicker running dog botherers.

Look at their list! The persecution literally consists of not saying the word "christmas" often enough.

Oh please. Wal-Mart tends to consider itself a "Christian" company. Seriously, they had a contract with a "Christian" bookstore to provide their books and other media (music) last I knew. Of course, fundamentalists tend to basically condemn anyone that doesn't go to their particular church to hell, including each other, but still. I'm not sure how they expect anyone to pander to even the differences between their own groups (which tend to not be particularly similar to each other once they stop waving the communal flag and turn their eyes on each other).

Hey, I am a total skeptic when it comes to relgion,(I don't like Fundies of any type) but there is a double standard here,methinks.
