'The Third Intifada has already begun'

The 'hiding in civilian areas' becomes very tired when the population has been herded into a tiny area. Gaza has an area comparable to the Isle of Wight and a population density near to London's!
Right, there was simply no other place except for the basement of a hospital for Hamas to have their headquarters in when the fighting started!

Already I see both sides setting themselves up as "Victims" so they can justify their attacks and other atrocities - it's a pretty pathological way to wage a war and doesn't do justice to the real victims of the conflict.

Just wait and see. If this plays out as usual and the fighting escalates expect to see a race to victimhood: Palestinians chanting and gleefully holding up the burnt husks of Dead Babies while Israelis are screaming that the world's pathological antisemitism makes them have to defend themselves. Meanwhile - all the bombing, rocketing, stabbing...yada, yada, yada. Nothing but an appeal to pity and murder.

Atrocities? Please, Saddam and the Assads would have nerve gassed both West Bank and Gaza within days of anything like this.

So how many Israeli children have died as a result of the conflict recently?

Israel trusts UN Troops to enforce the peace with Hezbollah. So why won't Israel allow some UN Troops in the West Bank and Gaza?

Really? The answer to the Palestinian/Israeli Violence problem - UN Troops - has been in front of us for almost 50 years, but the US and Israel do everything they can to avoid the solution. Why is that? Could it be that land will be much harder for Israel to steal once they are being monitored by the UN?
No, but thanks for playing!!!:D:D:D

Good try. No points. And I am neither Jewish not Israeli. Just someone who carefully read the rules of warfare - in several versions. Especially the part about who is the war criminal when troops/military/hide in civilian areas and fight from civilian areas (a war crime on their part by the way). Oddly, the reason (part of) that is an actual war crime is that the opposition (say Israelis) are not required by RoW to not attack if the other side is operating illegally that way.

Quite so. The Palestinians must either fight like men, deploying their artillery, tank divisions and aircraft in approved fashion, or not at all. Fair's fair.

Did they do that? Smart move. The court of public opinion matters so cards like this must be played. It's assymetric warfare between the weak and the strong.

Actually, what people are trying to point out is: if you set up a military base in a hospital then that hospital becomes a legitimate military target.

The Palestinians assume that there are lots of people so incredibly naive and foolish that they will condemn Israel when this happens. It seems the Palestinians bet on foolishness is well placed.

Or they could, alternatively, work for peace. But you can't genocide the Jews peacefully these days so they choose a war they can't win instead, and useful idiots blame Israel.

Sorry, RoW cover that.. They must have and wear an identifiable uniform with proper insignia. They cannot fight/supply/construct/bivouac/hide/ communicate/etc. in civilian areas as that makes the civilian areas where they do a legal target. Only proviso is IF it is possible without endangering the Israeli (in this case) military for the Israeli's to control shelling/bombing sufficiently to only target the bad guys they are required to do so . Unfortunately, due to the choices of hezb and their ilk, who choose to hide like cowards and use the deaths of their people who they are cowardly hiding among to badly mispaint the Israelis. It really does not matter how much the Israelis have and how much the ***** have, the RoW exist for both/all sides.

For those with difficulty following this: Military in with/hiding among civilians IS A WAR CRIME ON ITS FACE. The opposing military ATTACKING THE PLACES WHERE THERE ARE MILITARY HIDING WITH/AMONG THEIR CIVILIANS IS NOT!!!! The only exception/proviso is IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT CIVILIAN DEATHS/HARM WHILE PERFORMING THE REMOVAL OF ENEMY COMBATANTS (WITHOUT HARM TO THEMSELVES) IT IS REQUIRED THEY DO SO. OTHERWISE, NOT!!!

And, just as a friendly, most of the Hesb amd related do not wear an identifying uniform and can legally be executed when found as spies. A friendly suggestion, start looking up the rules (there are several versions , all of them are sufficiently logical to have a clause(s) like I note above.

This AND SIMILAR (MOSQUES/SCHOOLS/ APARTMENT BUILDINGS/SHOPPING MALLS/RAILROAD STATIONS/AIRPORTS (IF THEY ARE INVOLVED IN ANY MILITARY ACTIVITY). Rats, this was not meant to be yelling, but, hey, it is amazing how many do not know this very important material!!! And blame the wrong side for civilian deaths in this war/ongoing set of wars..

So, and I do not want to put words in your mouth, but you seem to be saying that it is fine for one group to follow the Rules of warfare, but the other, what with being incompetent religious nut cases who even hate and fight with each other should not have to because publicity. If I am misinterpreting you in any way, please feel free to correct me, but I do not think anything I have written is incorrect in any functional/important detail. Al the Arab groups need to do is put down their weapons, accept Israel is there and just live much brighter/happier lives!!!!!

Maybe because that didn't work back in 1967? At all.
Furthermore, would Palestinians agree to a truly neutral UN force? To begin with you need to exclude all countries that didn't vote against UN GA resolution 3379. Is there anyone from those who remain who Palestinians, including Hamas, would agree with?

Is this one of those MA - proof insults that you guys specialise in? As in - are you calling me foolish? Please clarify.

I know exactly what 'people are trying to point out'. It's 'foolish' to think otherwise. You missed what I was pointing out.

I was not making a point about the rules of war. Your suggestion that I look them up is therefore misplaced.

If you don't want to put words in my mouth, then it's simple - don't do it. Thank you for sharing your solution to the Middle East's problems.

Well, you did implicate Hamas is allowed to use civilians and hospitals as cover for their attacks against Israel. Pointing out that their actions in themselves constitute war crimes is a very reasonable response. Pointing out Israeli attacks against Hamas military infrastructure - even if it's sheltered behind civilians - can not be considered war crimes is also a very reasonable, well placed response.

What's your problem anyway?

'Imply' not 'implicate'. The words mean two entirely different things. No, I implied no such thing. I said it was a smart move in a game in which public opinion counts (whether 'allowed' or not). Is Israel 'allowed' to have nuclear weapons? Is it 'allowed' to be planting settlements in the West Bank? Is it 'allowed' to bulldoze people's homes? You can have this fascinating moral discussion with someone else. It doesn't particularly interest me.

What do you mean with the last question? I don't have a problem. Do you? What is it? Maybe I can help.
