Snowden ready to go back to prison

"Incentive"? There's nothing new in the article. It's just a dumb CNN headline.

(CNN)—Edward Snowden says he's offered "many times" to go to prison in the United States as part of a deal to return from exile in Russia but is still waiting for an answer from the American government. [...]

Money quote (paraphrased): Commenting on privacy issues with "I've got nothing to hide" is like commenting on freedom of speech issues with "I've got nothing to say". :)

One smart cookie.

Ummm, ...

Is there some sort of miscommunication here?

Snowden never went to prision, so how can Snowden be ready to go back to prision?

Well, Sheremetyevo airport can seem like a prison if you are stuck there long enough.

Frankly, I'd prefer it if he stayed in Russia and continued to disclose more information. He can do more damage that way.

It has become so dated now its a bit irrelevant

Russia sucks worse then club fed.

Club Fed? You can bet your bottom dollar that if Snowden goes to a US prison, without first bargaining for where he'll be incarcerated, it will be into one of the 8th amendment-violating torture camps known as "supermax" prisons.

Lots of Snowden threads, this is the most recent so I'll put this here:

EU wants to offer Snowden protection from prosecution

The nonbinding resolution, narrowly approved in a 285-281 vote, acts as a symbolic blow to the Obama administration’s calls for Snowden to be returned to the U.S. and face criminal charges that could land him in jail for years.
The resolution calls for the European Union’s 28 member states to “drop any criminal charges against Edward Snowden, grant him protection and consequently prevent extradition or rendition by third parties, in recognition of his status as whistle-blower and international human rights defender.”

Why would anyone seriously care what the EU parliament thinks about Snowden? Famously anti-GMO, why would anyone seriously consider that they've made the decision based on a full reading of the facts in his case? Do people even know what countries make up the EU? Why are we surprised that an anti-Empire infowarrior nerd is being supported by them? That's a narrow margin with a lot of abstentions at that. That's almost as stupid as people spreading around the fact that he'd been nominated for the peace prize, forgetting that almost anyone in an elected seat can make that nom and it literally means nothing. Few people who are pro-Snowden have their facts straight.

Pretty damn hilarious. "International human rights defender" hiding under protection of country that is way worse offender than USA in this area? That blatant hypocrisy is why Snowden has zero credibility for me.
