Windows 10

Not sure I understand. What did you expect to happen?

Are you saying that the icons don't show up at all, or that they don't stay on the task bar, or that once there nothing happens?
They don't show up at all. They're not in the start menu by default, so to save some time (I use them semi-regularly) I'd open up explorer and browse to their folder, right-click the executable and select "Pin to Start Menu".

I wish Microsoft would stop re-using the same names for different applications. The first time I hit this was with ActiveSync, originally a program for syncing a Pocket PC or HandHeld PC 2000 with a Windows desktop (1996-2007). Now ActiveSync is the Microsoft Exchange component for syncing cell phones to an Exchange server (2003-present).

...don't forget outlook.com! Formerly known as hotmail/windows live, and not to be confused with the outlook desktop client!

The original MS Access was a telecommunications program (remember dial-up BBSes?) Now it's their low-end database program.

I played around with printer settings such as setting the default printer and sharing the printer. They've moved them, and the tips Cortana gave me were wrong. That's a wasted 15 minutes I'll never get back.

Apparently Win10 is the last upgrade we can expect for a long time. Because they're still running that commercial with babies who are going to grow up with Windows 10.

Headlines around the series of tubes are saying that Microsoft is backporting anti-privacy features to previous Windows versions. I haven't seen a write-up that I would consider very fact-based or impartial.

It rings with verisimilitude. MS hasn't learned their lesson yet.

Until they allow turning-off those goddamned automatic updates, I won't recommend Win10 for work.

Maybe Win10 Pro allows for turning them off. Does anyone know?

ETA: Is it just me, or do we have to jump through extra hoops to find the Windows Version we're running?

The first thing that annoyed the heck out of windows 10 is that minimized windows don't show up in the taskbar but I fixed that. Does having windows 10 mean I don't need any more virus protection?

Pro does. But you can easily achieve it on Home if you're connected by wifi.
(Wired also but that different)
I always use Pro but as a Windows Insider I keep it on as it causes no imaginary problems whatsoever.

Right click on the start menu button.

Click on System.

Incidentally, when you click on All Apps in the Start Menu, you don't have to scroll.

If you click on one of the letters above the apps, you can then find apps alphabetically. You can quickly see all the apps that start with M, for example.

It sounds like you might be confusing (or possibly conflating) the Start Menu and the Task Bar.

I think the second link will show you how to do what you're trying to do.

I have had a major problem and had to pay big $ to get it fixed. I was told it was a common problem after upgrading to Windows 10. I could not send emails using Microsoft Outlook. Has anyone else had this problem?

Just upgraded my laptop. Seems to work fine (not using MS Outlook, however).
