He can buy the election, no debts to PACs. Couldn't be bought later either. He has already shown his altruism via the Gates Foundation.

And he can invent his own centrist party, leave the Tea Party and Socialists out. Do some market research and go for the middle 66%. Do what is good for the country, NOT what's good for one party or the other. He wouldn't even have to pander to the voters, just do what is right.

Or some other .00001%er? Names?

A Bill Gates presidency would be great... until we get stuck with the Steve Balmer successor.

He can't buy the election. Donald Trump is about to show us that.

Trump is a piker with baggage- that he wears on his head. Nah, we don't need that kind of megalomaniac to have any power.

But IIRC, what's er name from eBay didn't fare so well at buying an election either. Still, I do like the idea of a Captain of Industry running the country, especially if they start a centrist party. EVERYBODY knows "Its the economy, stoopid", but they get all wrapped up arguing over the fringes. Hey, gun control, abortion, gay rights are all settled. Obamacare will get tuned up. A new figurehead for a new party could keep us focused on what is good for the masses, not the special interest groups.

Oh well. I don't know who will win, but I suspect it will be 53:47. The two parties have their platforms nailed down pretty good, they join just about in the middle.

It's a bit chilling to think that "too rich to be bought" might actually be a positive quality we should be looking for in a Presidential candidate.

What's good for the masses will never happen regardless of who is in office. That's not something Americans want.

His chances of being elected are 0%, same as Bernie Sanders or Michael Badnarik (or whoever the Libertards run this time). Not because he wouldn't get votes, but because there is 0% chance he would ever run.

Would a Gates White House need to be rebooted periodically to keep it running smoothly?

I genuinely think that Bill Gates is a nice guy and a smart man, yet I also think he is too sane to get involved with all that political foolishness.

And do we really need more "Developers! Developers!"

The real problem with someone like Gates is that he is accustomed to telling people who work for him "Do this!" and they do it. Except for dropping bombs abroad, the President can't really do anything that the Congress doesn't allow him to do, and even then he has to fight the entrenched bureaucracy. Gates probably has more impact on the world now than most political leaders.

I would go further and assert that the Gates foundation has had a more positive influence than most career politicians.

Not all trust funds are good, and not all are evil, yet the Gates foundation is at least not as corrosive as the Billary effect.

Where is someone like Bella Abzug when we need someone like her?

wrong word; sorry

Are you kidding ? The administration would be full of bugs until they install the service pack.

At least they recognize the need to install service packs. Too many congress critters think their laws don't stink!
