Report: "No association" between MMR vaccination and autism

Just saw this:

Conclusions and Relevance In this large sample* of privately insured children with older siblings, receipt of the MMR vaccine was not associated with increased risk of ASD, regardless of whether older siblings had ASD. These findings indicate no harmful association between MMR vaccine receipt and ASD even among children already at higher risk for ASD.

*95, 727 children in the sample, to be precise.

Consistent with studies in other populations, we observed no association between MMR vaccination and increased ASD risk among privately insured children.We also found no evidence that receipt of either 1 or 2 doses of MMR vaccination was associated with an increased risk of ASD among children who had older siblings with ASD. As the prevalence of diagnosed ASD increases, so does the number of children who have siblings diagnosed with ASD, a group of children who are particularly important as they were undervaccinated in our observations as well as in previous reports

I mean, nowadays, they just blame the other vaccines...DTAP, HIB, chicken pox, whatever....

Despite the fact that there isn't even a temporal relationship between those vaccines and autism, it still HAS to be the vaccines. So if not MMR...

The more recent claim/BS is that it is a combination of vaccines given over a short time at a very young age. Somehow that causes autism. None of it backed by evidence of course.

As I said, it has to be about vaccines. Blame some vaccine with no evidence, and when the evidence rules it out, move on to the next baseless claim.

On one hand, I hope some enterprising (and strong-stomached) journalist has tracked down one of these "I refused vaccination and my child developed autism anyway" parents to see what they think now, what they've said to their (former?) fellow denialist-believers, and so on. Gene Weingarten comes to mind.

On the other hand, denialist or not, they've got a tough road ahead just like any ASD parents and I wouldn't wish anyone in that position forced into an unwanted limelight.

I wonder if there are any unlucky parents who refused vaccines and got hit by *both* ASD and one of the preventable whooping coughs or measles or whatever. ~600 measles cases this year, 6 in 1000 incidence of autism spectrum, so odds are there are a few. Poor kids.

And then there is Kim Stagliano who has something like 4 kids on the autism spectrum. The first two are vaccinated, the last one was completely non-vaccinated.

Instead of coming to the obvious conclusion, she now blames the vaccines that SHE herself got and the toxins transmitted via breastfeeding.

Because, as I keep saying, it's gotta be the vaccines.

Minor quibble, she has three girls, not boys mind you, all on the spectrum and her unvaccinated youngest daughter is the most severely affected. But yes, she blames her own vaccination.

In response to a previous comment, the ones who don't vaccinate but have a child diagnosed with autism anyway claim that vaccines would have just made it worse. It will always be the vaccines with this lot. They are completely impervious to evidence that contradicts their confirmation bias.
