Yeah but me and Mary are more fun to hang around with!
:D
I agree clive. I have enjoyed your posts and you pms. Back to chess and football.
Same here
She did, but the thread is going crazy at the moment :)
Yo KM!

By the way, I think it's worth repeating here for clarity: the fact that the SC went for straight-out acquittals - rather than annulling the Nencini convictions and sending the case back for a further appeal-level trial - is extremely important. It implies that the SC must have believed that the case for conviction had absolutely no merit. If the SC had merely been unhappy over aspects of the Nencini convictions, but still believed that there was fundamentally a case to answer, the case would undoubtedly have been kicked back down for another appeal trial, with further SC recommendations.

And that's well worth bearing in mind if certain pro-guilt commentators might try to rationalise this decision along the lines of "Well, the SC might have thought they were probably guilty, but that the Nencini court hadn't made a watertight case for guilt beyond a reasonable doubt".......
The rationalisations are already forming.
Rudy Guede raped and murdered Meredith Kercher.

Murdered then raped.

I disagree, I think Italy's justice system compares well to that of the USA. Compare the handling of this case, and the relatively short time frame of eight years, to the handling of the very similar wm3 case. Italy beats Arkansas for justice hands down.

They all have faults and room for improvement, but this case in Italy has shown it has many that are common to all, like the interrogation/false confession issue.
For me this seems an easy one to fix, video tape everything , no excuses.

Injustice in Perugia site and Injustice Everywhere, confirms the US has a lot of cases its a world I didnt even know existed.

My son went through a interrogation during this Kercher trial, so it was jaw dropping and my perception is changed forever that this really does happen just like this case in Perugia. I even understand people who dont believe it happens because its unimaginable to think of police doing such a abusive/ trained function of their job.
Probably why I bring up Edgardo Giobbi too often, because its that kind of mentality that needs to be eliminated. This caveman like "gut instinct" is horrifically stupid and ruins lives.

enough said Im done, but change the laws....video tape interrogations, no budget excuses.

<snip>

I can't help but wonder if the internet age has contributed to that. All that public questioning, pressure, the expertise of a wide variety of people from all over the world - has there ever been a case with so many voices chiming in? So much investigation work done by unconnected people just wanting to help out? Maybe eventually they had to listen.

It seems to be happening with Russ Faria too - he was only convicted two years ago and already it looks like he might be getting an appeal. Probably in no small part due to the work of the online campaigns and the TV network that has been supporting him.

I hope so.

You guys are great. I had prepared myself for the worst. Just so happy this is over and the correct result was obtained.

Many here seem to be giving Mach slack. I happen to remember all of the foul things he said about Amanda.

A predictably nasty banner headline on TJMK in response to the SC ruling, written by that nasty, strange little man Quennell:

Breaking news: Convictions overturned. Now Cassation has to explain in writing in a way that does not smell of a deal. Knox has served three years for calunnia and that felony record stands for life. Also Knox and Sollecito face trials already in motion for their books and for what Knox claimed on the stand in 2009. That their claims were wrong (example here) look not too difficult to prove. An OJ Simpson outcome, Italy style, perhaps?

I hope it's not long before Quennell retires into his sad little hole with his sick little fantasies.

Anyone who thought despicable people like Quennell, who has been shown to have no concept of class or humility, would respectfully accept this decision must be celebrating justice with the hard stuff! The guy is a vile demagogue and he has over seven years invested in his hate campaign - he isn't going to go away that easy.

Sadly, I was really looking forward to reading at the guilter sites and watch them implode but org apparently is locked down, net won't load their main discussion page and TJMK is, well... So many nasty, smug people so sure of the unjust persecution of Amanda and Raffaele. Perhaps not the classiest of thoughts on my part but I'd really like to rub this in their noses but, surprisingly, I can't find a one.

The basic question remains: What happened that night?

The huge likelihood: Rudy Guede broke in through Romanelli's bedroom window at around 8.40pm (having cased the whole house and found it unoccupied, dark and quiet), with the aim of stealing money, electronic goods and other valuables. He closed the external shutters once he was inside, thus obscuring evidence of his break-in from anyone outside. He went for a wander round the cottage, drank some juice, and went to defecate in the large bathroom, in the belief that he had almost unlimited time in which to work.

While he was on the toilet, however, Kercher arrived home. Kercher locked the front door behind her, removing the key and retaining it (the door needed to be locked otherwise it would blow open owing to a broken latch, and the key needed to be removed from the door in order to make it possible for others to unlock it from outside if they came home). At this point, one of several different things could have happened. My best guess is that Guede tried to exit silently through the front door, but found it locked, and came face to face with Kercher at this point. Some sort of verbal altercations ensued, which then turned to physical, and then sexual violence, as Guede became aroused by the situation. He forced Kercher into compliance with his knife (perhaps telling her that if she did what he said and didn't call out or struggle, he'd treat her well and leave quietly....), then initiated a sexual assault with her on all fours and Guede behind her holding his knife at her neck. I think that Kercher may have struggled and screamed out at this point, causing Guede to inflict the knife wounds to the neck.

I think that all of this happened before 9.30pm. I think that Guede then stopped, in shock and horror, and spent some time trying to figure out what to do. In the end, he decided to wipe up some of the blood with towels from the small bathroom, and to clean the blood off his own hands and clothing. He left just after 10pm, taking Kercher's phones with him. After Kercher's UK phone rang out to indicate an incoming photo message at just after 10.15 - while Guede was on his way home outside the city walls - he decided just to dump the phones and threw them away (where they landed in MRs Lana's garden). Guede then got back to his apartment, composed himself, and went out clubbing into the centre of Perugia in a conscious attempt to construct some sort of alibi.

Rudy Guede raped and murdered Meredith.

Did Guede actually rape her as she lay dying? Or did he masterbate over her genital area and ejaculate on the pillow under her hips? Besides Guede, Dr. Stefanoni should know! I wonder what secrets she has withheld to minimize Guede's role so as to support Mignini's effort to portray Guede as a minor player.

I always thought Guede covered much of his victim's body with the bed cover because it was difficult to pleasure himself looking at the ghastly neck wounds he inflicted. He didn't want to see that gore, as he pleasured himself near her vaginal area.

A bunch of idiots on twitter are saying this shows that if you are white and can afford to hire attorneys, you can get away with murder. One is even so stupid as to say that since Knox is "middle class and white", she can get away with killing someone.

The ignorance and idiocy of these people is frightening to behold.

I have been arguing over the last several days, that the conviction had basically nothing to do with the evidence, but rather, that the case has been a kind of dance between Mignini and the judiciary, over the fraudulent theory that a satanic sect was responsible for the Monster of Florence murders, which Mignini and Giuttari had been peddling in the Narducci trail cases.

I outlined my reason for why I believed these verdicts would come in today as they did.

I recognize that I could have just got lucky. But I would be curious if anyone would like to comment on the theory I proposed.

His DNA was found inside her vagina.

Is it just murder we white middle class girls can get away with, or are lesser crimes covered too? I'd like to know what my limits are before I embark upon a consequence-free orgy of criminality.

You bet it is! The ECHR may yet make a landmark ruling in the case. The application is filed and there's nothing left for her to do to make it happen.

Almost, there are likely to be back and forth pleading by her lawyers and Italy.

And THIS IS INCREDIBLE!

Ahhhh, .eughhh is back up. And some predictably disgusting remarks being posted there....

Oh look - here's one from the "decent and honorable" Yummi:

It's completely shameful. And I also think, if Amanda Knox was Italian, and she was not Andreotti, she would have been convicted for sure.

I think this reeks about political deal - maybe involving Paolo Antonio Bruno and his alleged strange connections - and the solution may lie in the omissis within the cables. I think the goverment didn't want a clash with the US, and made an exchange under the table.

I wonder when "Yummi" might show up here to explain this ludicrous new conspiracy theory further........

Damn! This has got to be the worst possible decision. Years spent collecting sorting and analizing evidence in this case is suddenly moot. Now I have to start all over and find a life :(

LOL! Not for me:

'You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
My energy is spent at last, and my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons, and I'm helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all I'm made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory?'

:p

And here's that nasty little piece of work Hugo, managing to combine ex post facto rationalisation, pent-up rage, crazy conspiracy theorising and flat-out nastiness in one short post! Well done, Hugo!

Vergogna.

I was trying to signal it on Wednesday, but people didn't want to hear it. The bit I didn't mention was the president of the court illegally ticking off Meredith's family's lawyer for saying that Conti and Vecchiotti engaged in mystification. That kind of told you, really.

Before the last Cassation hearing I said that the court had to show whether Italy was, in fact, a duly organised polity under the rule of law, or merely a mafious conspiracy of interests.

They didn't actually decide the matter then, because they should have ended the case. With the appeal annulled, that should have been it. Instead, they redundantly sent it back round the houses, so as to favour their special white snowflakes just a little bit more, and a little bit more, and a little bit more...

Today, after a ridiculous interval, they decided the matter. Italy is not a duly organised polity under the rule of law. It just pretends to be. Not at all convincingly.

A percentage of the population just can't accept that the police and prosecutors can make mistakes. To them, the fact that someone is charged with a crime is equivalent to guilt.
