‘Duck Dynasty’ star fantasizes about atheist family’s rape and murder

The reality TV star made the comments Friday at the Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast, and Christian conservative radio host Rick Wiles aired them later that day on his “Trunews” program, reported Right Wing Watch.

:eye-poppi

“I’ll make a bet with you,” Robertson told the religious gathering. “Two guys break into an atheist’s home. He has a little atheist wife and two little atheist daughters. Two guys break into his home and tie him up in a chair and gag him.”

“Then they take his two daughters in front of him and rape both of them and then shoot them, and they take his wife and then decapitate her head off in front of him,” Robertson continued, “and then they can look at him and say, ‘Isn’t it great that I don’t have to worry about being judged? Isn’t it great that there’s nothing wrong with this? There’s no right or wrong, now, is it dude?’”

...

“If it happened to them, they probably would say, ‘Something about this just ain’t right,’” Robertson added.

:boggled::rolleyes:

Perhaps I am missing something. I look at it as hypothesizing, not fantasizing. It is a stupid hypothetical and perhaps too graphic to be in good taste, but the Duck Dynasty character is not fantasizing.

Also, I take issue with the phrase "Duck Dynasty star." Those boys may be many things but stars ain't one of them.

He put a lot of work into that hypothetical, I'm sure he tooks weeks to fine tune it.

Well, if you're making a deep philosophical point, you have to think that stuff through. Cover all the angles. Test your ideas.

Nietzsche didn't write Also sprach Zarathustra on his lunch-break, I'm sure.

A christian fantasizing about raping and torturing people who claims that it is only god that is holding them back from doing this?

Isn't that basic religion. Thankfully so many of these psychopaths have strong religious beliefs to make up for their total lack of morals or empathy.

A minor and frivolous point (Do I post any other kind?):

_Ecce Homo_ is somewhat unreliable, as is the wiki. Kaufmann is the gold standard.

Z seems to have been written fast, in a manic phase.

Nietzsche commented in Ecce Homo that for the completion of each part: "Ten days sufficed; in no case, neither for the first nor for the third and last, did I require more" (trans. Kaufmann).

Some other notable works written very fast: The Messiah (Handel) Ewartung (Schoenberg) arrangement of Tea for Two (Shostakovich)

Nitpicking but informative and interesting.

N seems to have a rambling writing style. Big prose and long sentences, but I often feel like I should come up for air halfway a page. (Twenty years since I read any N. Such are the duties of the young)

Perhaps nitpicking, but Phil is the star of the Duck Dynasty. One could even argue that all the Robertsons are stars in the universe that they revolve in, namely, the unhinged Christian right wing nutosphere.

I'm pretty sure the justice system also covers us godless sodomites. And the best part is, unlike make-believe hell, the perp can't get out of prison by repenting at the last minute.

From RightWingWatch:

Robertson kept going: “Then you take a sharp knife and take his manhood and hold it in front of him and say, ‘Wouldn’t it be something if this [sic] was something wrong with this? But you’re the one who says there is no God, there’s no right, there’s no wrong, so we’re just having fun. We’re sick in the head, have a nice day.’”

Emphasis mine.

First it was "they", namely the two guys, then it became "you".

Which "you was he referring to, is what I want to know.

I know I'm nitpicking, and I'm sure he would never actually do this, let alone advocate it, but he does seem to be inconsistent about who would be doing what in his hypothetical.

It's really not "basic religion" at all, regardless of how much certain branches of Christianity do advocate the concept of Total Depravity and use false rhetoric to try to represent their religion as the only real religion. Don't forget, Christianity is very much a minority religion, however influential it may seem to be.

The two guys were him and Sean Hannity.

Can someone remind me where in the Bible it says, "Thou shalt not rape?"

Atheists don't say that. What's wrong with these people ? How many of these idiots think that ?

Far, far too many. Quite a few churches end up spreading quite a bit of disinformation on the subject, after all, either knowingly or through ignorance. That's besides the fact that, when one is taught, or culturally absorbs the concept that what determines "right" from "wrong" is God, it's entirely sensible to think that those who don't believe in God have major issues with right and wrong. At least until they can take an educated look outside that paradigm... which just isn't going to happen without a fairly directed push or motivation.

How is Christianity a minority religion in the US? Or are we defining it such that it is about true Christians so we get rid of Catholics and such?
