Continuation Part 13: Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito

My view is that Machiavelli knows how to post Stefanoni's C.V., and now simply will not. Just before his last hiatus, he challenged us to find it and said the subject no longer interested him.

Sadly, at this late stage, I think you're being generous. This is merely the umpteenth emanation of BS from his quarter, like so much skunk spray. It's more astonishing every day that thoughtful people here waste their time to even read his posts.

But, of course, such accomplishments are a pitiful bulwark against the sheer force of confirmation bias *demanding* Vecchiotti be a paid stooge. Oh, and a mere coroner. And Stefanoni - whose CV remains a mystery which ILE is apparently pleased to enforce - an accomplished, shining beacon of equity and science whose lab has never had an incident of contamination.

It really is time to begin ignoring the lunatic ramblings of persons who refuse to confront evidence and rational argumentation on their obvious face value.

Concur.

I'm between hobbies.

What - RS’s Nov 5th statement (a version of - from the Telegraph IIRC) has been available for years.
Last time we discussed this I noted that the Knox crew had released images of the victims naked body but not this statement. That’s not to say that it wasn’t out there.

And now apparently it’s come to the attention of cartwheel world as a result of the recent document dump. So given that it’s now available to you I’d be interested to hear your explanation for his statement.

Now, be aware, the standard is pretty high on this issue – ‘utterly irrelevant’ will be hard to top.
And ‘It’s irrelevant’ has also been deployed – actually that argument was interesting :)

But give it your best shot.

On this – Nope.
I have explained several times already – my current interest in RS’s Nov5th disavowal stems from his recent statements and the clues it provides to his possible actions after March25th.

Do you see?

No. No one does.

As for my opinion:

* The argument you refer to was not interesting. Is was however, marginally more interesting than this one
* Are you claiming we have "seen" Raffaele's statement to the police of the night of the 5th, because we have seen THIS? A newspaper article, quoting another newspaper article? REALLY? I was referring to the actual statement he gave, not an article, based on what one reporter told another reporter that the police told the first reporter

Also, your continuing meme about how "The Knox crew had released images of the victims naked body" is not only silly, but false. If these images have been "released", and you think it is so important, then show us where they are available to the public. Oh wait, you can't. The only one that "released" any such thing was Maresca, in his bizarre unannounced showing in court, for no apparent reason other than shock value.

Your arguments are nonsense.

It seems a translation of the offending passages of Honour Bound are due by April 10,

From PMF

The preliminary hearing judge of Florence today appointed two experts in charge of translating the 17 pages of the book Honor Bound (Bound by honor), published in the US, where Raffaele Sollecito reconstructs his legal case related to the murder of Meredith Kercher, and is being sued by the magistrate Giuliano Mignini Perugia who was leading the investigation."

and

"The Public Prosecutor of the Tuscan capital has called the young Apulian (now not in court) and co-author Andrew Gumbel for slander and defamation of the police force. [repeat info about translators]… . The translation should be produced on April 10, while the hearing is set for the 30th of the same month."

I am still trying to figure out how Mignini can claim to suffer damage, from a book that was not published in Italian, and was not sold in Italy. But that is just the start of what I don't understand about what is going on with him, or the whole case over there in general.

It's why engaging Machiavelli has merit.

He's the only one who attempts a systematic apology for what in a normal universe is silliness.

Everything about this man is sticking fingers in the dyke. He has wrongfully jailed at least 24 people, and apparently is no longer in a position to do so.
He is a desperate man looking for vindication.

History will pursue him relentlessly, it's always the way. He will be correctly defined as THE MONSTER.

He's been very successful in defending himself, garnering **political** support in no less than Cassazione.

Don't forget George Clooney owns rights to Monster of Florence, and Clooney himself is poised to play Doug Preston.

A conviction on March 25th will guarantee a green light on that project!!

Wait, why does migini get 2 translators, and Amanda only got a half-assed mediator?

There was a partial accounting (in quotes) of Raffaele's November 5/6 statement in Corriere della Sera I think date November 7 (and where I think the Telegraph's article comes from); his full statement is now included in the documents on The Meredith Wiki. The partial statement is somewhere on these many threads.

As for the images, I think while it is true that Maresca showed the images in court I remember reading somewhere that he did inform the court of what he intended to do and asked for it to be closed to public view but that did not happen. If I find where I read this I will post here. And it is possible I am mistaken and placing two different events into one.

Raffaele, and by extension Amanda, had several hundred pages of documents translated (Massie court). I don't know how many translators worked on those documents.

I have spoken to someone (actually more than one person) who was present in court at the time Maresca showed the pictures, and they were not expecting it, and where shocked to have seen them. Mignini had shown them to the court earlier, but had cleared the court of journalists and the public before doing so. So, as far as I can tell, there was no reason for Maresca to show them again, except in an attempt to emotionally impact the jury against AK and RS by showing the brutality of the crime.

As for RS's statement, I looked on the pro-guilt wiki, and did not find it. I have since found it on both the pro-guilt and pro-innocence wikis, but there is no English translation on either (the pro-guilt wiki has what they call a "partial" translation, but there is quite a bit of paraphrasing, so I don't consider it a real translation. Maybe one of the wikis will translate it at some point). So we HAVE seen it, I agree, although not in a way where I feel we can parse the words and compare to some press conference 7 years later, and draw any conclusions.

I wonder how many of them tried to convince people that they had repressed memories while they translated? Just curious. :p

Mach had more to say on this subject, but one of the issues was that Raf had gone to a university library and p[ut a copy of his book on a shelf in the library.

It sad that Italy has criminal penalties for "insults". Its amazing the adults haven't rushed in and taken the dangerous toys away from the children.

I wonder if mignini ever heard about the barbara Streisand effect.

Google translate of an article on Raf's & Gumbel's defamation case w/Mignini.

http://www.ilmessaggero.it/umbria/p...azione_giuliano_mignini/notizie/1220463.shtml

PERUGIA - On March 25, the Supreme Court will decide his fate, but April 30 Raffaele Sollecito could return again before a judge to defend himself against accusations of the prosecutor that he did condemn the first time.
The preliminary hearing judge of Florence in fact appointed two experts commissioned to translate 17 pages of the book Honor Bound (Bound by honor), published in the US, in which Sollecito reconstructs his legal case related to the murder of Meredith Kercher and for which it was sued by the magistrate Giuliano Mignini Perugia who was proprietor of the investigation.

For the young Apulian and co-author Andrew Gumbel pm the Tuscan capital has asked the trial for slander and defamation of the police force. In particular, the judge of the preliminary hearing indicated a translator and an Italian mother tongue. By the end of the operations has been shown April 10 while the hearing was set for 30. Sollecito - rejecting allegations disputed - appointed as adviser a lecturer specializing in the translation of books. To defend him and Gumbel are lawyers Alfredo Brizioli and Francesca Bacecci.

March 25 will land instead in the Supreme Court the process for which Sollecito and Amanda Knox were sentenced to 25 and 28 years and six months in prison for the murder Kercher, in Perugia occurred the evening of November 2, 2007. The two young people say they are unrelated to the crime and their advocates seek the annulment of the sentences.
