This was found on facebook. It originated from some far right wing corner of the web.

So much communism! All over Africa. Even Somalia. And Saudi Arabia.

But not Canada or anywhere in Scandinavia. Hmmm

This map is incorrect. Anybody who's flown across the centre of Australia knows that it's mostly red.

Nonsense. It was the Greens blocking the recolouring motion in the Senate.

Obama was encouraging them from the grassy knoll, whilst directing the HAARP energies at Tony in attempt to make him do head asplodey stuff (this bit appears to have been wildly successful).
 
Hmmmm someone has a pretty libertine's vision of what a communist is.
 
I also found it interesting that Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Libya were all communist back in 1990!
 
Also they've not coloured Kerala red, even though it was the world's only freely elected Communist government in 1990.

Ok, it's a state in India, but probably more independent than an American state could be said to be. The bogus half-communist bar in the USA would seem to indicate that they simply never knew about Kerala. All that full employment and education for all, and robust medical care system with lots of doctors and nurses and improved women's lives and villages set up as coops and state-wide affluence and happiness must have been a threat to their sanity. Catatonic rejection of reality would ensue if they ever looked at that.

Sorry, I meant the idiotic image in the OP, with virtually all of South America turning Communist, and even the U.S. turning pinkish. Not your post!

I don't think most rational, intelligent people would take that image seriously.

Well let us not overlook its clear intent: to drum up fear. The whole point of the graphic is to get that loading bar on the US with lots of the world going red at the same time. This is to rile up the easily aroused far right base into taking action to stop this "descent" into communism.

I would have phrased it as " stop this descent into 'communism.' "
The target audience for the graphic defines communism as "anything that I don't like."

How else do you explain that the US now has a communist president?
 
When I saw the thread title my first thought was , "Again?" Then I looked at the map and realized it was coloured in by someone who's just discovered MS Paint and who defines "communism" as "anything to the left of Attilla the Hun", it's so wrong that its not worth dealing with.
 
They've clearly messed up on Soviet Canuckistan, which has socialized medicine. Interesting that they've left out Iran, since Islam is exactly the same as Communism to a lot of these folks. And Nazism and atheisim as well. That's how Obama can be all four at once.

ETA: Also interesting that Hainan Island, part of China, is not communist; while the northern and southernmost islands in the Philippines are but the middle is not.
