Jango, if you haven't already read it, I can recommend the Wikipedia page on Phineas Gage, a man who survived having a large iron rod driven through the left side of his brain. Nothing to do with any kind of conspiracy theory, just something that may open up new ideas.

I've heard of him before and I've seen several modern instances of similar phenomenon -- one within the last week, actually.

I saw the events go down

I know it looks far fetched but
over nite every CIA connected bay of pigs cuban in miami
had access to large amounts of coke at less then 1/2 the going rate
in one day sitting in a bar the cigaret guy the soda guy and the beer delivery guy
all bay of pigs cubans offered large amount of coke to me cheap [I am not a dealer]
AND HAD PRIOR VERY LIMITED CONTACT WITH THESE GUYS

a buddy now dead name bill chainy was employed fixing the aircraft [bullet holes]
was casually complaining of white power that numbed his fingers on the aircraft
bill was WW2 vet long time aircraft mechanic extreme red neck who did not know what coke was and was up set when we figured out why HIS FINGERS WERE NUMB
he quit shortly after that as he did not like the numb fingers or drug smuggling

it was a rerun of the V N era drug trade by the CIA AND air america
or the CIA LSD CONNECTION before that

Topical application wont get you high but can make things numb. This is a feeling frequent users will engage by rubbing a small amount around their gums and teeth for the numbing feeling there (common among frequent users is receding gums)

THis is also why its such a popular drug to snort -you can't even really feel it.

Snorting other drugs can be painful/disgusting.

By "intact" skin, I had in mind a bit more than the epithelium of the mouth. Do you suppose it will absorb through the dry epidermis of the hand - to any appreciable extent? I understand a bit about the mechanics used for topicals (emollients and other vehicles, occlusion) and it's not so easy to get things to cross the barrier, although it's certainly possible. Do people ever check the strength of cocaine by rubbing it between their fingers?

An experiment would settle this. Anyone have a schedule II license, some cocaine, and hands?

The problem is its kind of pricey.

Tell you what I can report back to this thread in a few months - I'll wait but within next 12 months I should have close proximity at a social occasion at least once, then it will be a simple matter of convincing them to let me stick my grubby thumb into their expensive bag of powder!

What doesn't make sense is to introduce a highly addictive drug and then start the "War on Drugs" which is expensive to maintain, and the high legal penalties for these drugs cost the government a lot in costs for imprisonment and the like. So the financing wars theory kind of falls apart when the government is spending significantly more on the War on Drugs than it could bring in selling crack.

Once you realize that it is two different part of the government, then it makes sense that the left hand does not care about the right hand. War on drug==FBI, local police. Contra scandal==CIA.

I'd love to see how that kickback system would have worked. How would the money get from the dealers to Langley? How would the CIA keep that network from talking?

Stop me if I am wrong, but most of the scandal the CIA was invovled in , were about them funneling money to other group, not them getting money. So the money did not need to come back to Langley.

See for example contra iran scandal, where part of the money was meant to finance the contras in nicaragua.

Just because I know how observant some people on forums are, I feel the need to point out that this thread is 5.5 years old.

I'm not sure why Robert Morrow felt the need to resurrect two threads about the CIA and cocaine (the other one being only 3.5 years old), though.

I nearly never look at the date, assuming that most thread are not zombie.
That said I find it interesting that many people had were using their own doubt, for what is actually history and not CT (the drug trafficking among others).

No, but why does the discovery method matter?

'CIA drug smuggling site:nytimes.com' is the search parameters I used.

I will commend you on the spin technique you used however: ignore the article I posted and focus on me instead.
