Thoughts about Munns' Book When Roger Met Patty

I think mainly because it's the best hoax that has been done. Hoaxing is as much an art form as a science, so you don't really need technology to do it well. Show me a BF film that looks cooler than the PGF...i double dare you. You may perceive it as 'not even remotely realistic' but if it were as bad as many would claim, there wouldn't be so much ink wasted debating it's authenticity.

I don't know about best hoax; as noted above, religion seems to have that title. What the PGF is, is a paradigm for video hoaxers: just clear enough to be suggestive, but blurry/staticky/shakey/artefacty enough to frustrate any good analysis.*

It's a guy in a suit.

*Or should I say definitive analysis by film maker/suit builder with street cred who actually gives two ***** about this monkey suit movie?

The problem is that none of them are realistic, and what does or does not constitute as being "cool" differs from person to person, some old-school folks may really dig Ivan Marx over Patterson.

Here is Green and McClarin looking at where Patty walked. You can see that the ground isn't flat and there is all kinds of stuff laying around.

This image is still overexposed but you can begin to see what is really there on the ground as you approach proper exposure.

I'm fully confident that the "heel flap" is caused by material debris on the ground between the lens and the foot.

Apparently, John Green was already at "Face Palm" stage at this point in the game.

In Munns' own words, WRMP was intended to be "a 2 hour documentary which will qualify for consideration with the Academy Awards in the feature Documentary category, as well as be eligible for submissions to numerous North American Film Festivals."

The funding page has long since been taken down, but you can read about it at whenrogermetpatty.com

Have a lookey-loo at the Progress Report page. Impressive, that is.

All of that and he still refuses to say the word "bigfoot", or that he believes in "bigfoot".

I haven't read Munns' book, but I have dabbled occasionally in Munns' arguments as they appear on the web. Here is one page I would like to discuss:
http://bigfootdiscoveryproject.blogspot.mx/2013/01/the-bill-munns-discovery-day-v-update.html

Now it seems to me that Munns has proceeded in his Patterson recreation in a muddled way. Instead of trying to recreate the image he finds in the Patterson film, he is instead trying to refute Bob Heironimus' claim of wearing the suit. So Munns is trying to recreate the suit Heironimus' remembers wearing, disregarding possibilities such as Bob having faulty memories or Heironimus not being man in the suit. If we take into account Morris' claim that the suit was a modification of his own manufactured gorilla suit, then we see that Munns has totally disregarded that element of the debate.

Had Munns tried to create the Patterson film subject as it was recorded, and then filmed his subject at the appropriate distance and lighting, his recreation would have been more relevant to the issue at hand.

Why doesn't he try to replicate a gorilla costume used in a 1960s movie first? Then he can show that hairy ape costumes can be replicated.

It would be a control experiment. It would be what science does.

I agree.

Not on topic: At the State Fair of Texas in the late 1960's, I took in the Girl Turns Into Gorilla carnival act on the Midway. It was all done with mirrors, but the climax, the gorilla breaking out of its cage, still scared the bejabbers out of about half the people there.

I found out later, decades later, that Morris' company was one of the main providers of costumes for this type of act nationwide. So, I may have seen a version of Patterson's Bigfoot in person.

Wouldn't that go against milking Patty for everything it's worth and even worse, lose the spotlight?

Folks, remember Dfoot once cut-and-pasted Patty over a pic and said it was his Patty suit. Footers quickly claimed to have found problems, tell-tale signs of a costume and differences with Patty ("too skinny" was one of them IIRC). When it was revealed (by himself?) what it actually was, they exploded in to rage and called him a hoaxer. Not even Patty looks like Patty. Especially when they are already informed its not Patty.

You can waste money making an exact replica of the costume and the movie. It will be useless. Footers will say the hair will be too long, too short, boobs too up, too down, different number of footsteps, mouth not moving, not looked back exactly like Patty, its not the same color, same sheen, whatever.

PGF status among bigfootery depends on it being... PGF. The ultimate piece of evidence, because bigfootery high clergy knows the actual ultimate evidence - a specimen - will never appear. They already know there can be only one Patty. So, PGF must keep its status. A perfect replica of a Gemora gorilla suit, filmed under the very same conditions would also not do it. Footers already know its a fake and will spot (or create) differences. A new hoax? No way, since bigfootery evidence must be produced an/or approved by bigfootery high clergy.

Bottomline is- Patty is an unsinkable rubber bigfoot for footers. Remember, for some, even a confession by the remaining hoaxer would not do the trick. They "know" what they saw; the confession is a fake, its just an old man's reaction, at last broken by the pressure of evil skeptics, the gubn'mint, NWO, Joos, maintream scientists, mining and logging lobbies...

When you can't even get 10 people to steal your book, it probably isn't going to turn a profit.

Don't count out Bill yet. As of May 13th/ 2015, 9 months after being published, his book has just been illegally downloaded for a 10th time.

:D So what you're saying is Munns is responsible for putting more people in copyright violation prison than Marcia Clark? He's an attorney now? Kim Kardashian is one of his biggest clients? Wait, what?
