Merged The Disturbences in Ferguson Missouri...

How could there be any cigars left behind? I thought the gentle giant donated them all to the orphan childrens' relief fund.

Can't steal cigars from that store anymore, it's been burnt to the ground.

No wonder the owner was afraid to call police when Brown robbed him

Can anyone explain how a no-fly zone achieves anything other than preventing the media from reporting on what's happening in Ferguson?

From your link...

The reason listed for a no-fly zone is “TO PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES.” It extends up to 3,000 feet, effectively banning news helicopters in the area, as well as commercial flights.

Probably want to give lots of clear space for police and rescue helicopters.

The streets of Ferguson are virtually crawling with news media even at this hour. Even if the no-fly order was expressly admitted to be aimed at keeping media helicopters out of the sky, it can't earnestly be claimed that the press is being censored or hampered.

Frankly, the air has to be full of smoke, with dozens of structures burning uncontrollably. Contents and items within the structures are exploding. It's just not safe to be flying helicopters low over that area.

Are you suggesting Dr. King was talking about looting and burning?

Isn't that the same thing the white moderates in Kings quote are saying?
"Yeah free yourselves, but please no property damage."

To quote Mark Twain in regards to the French revolution:

"There were two 'Reigns of Terror', if we could but remember and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passions, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon a thousand persons, the other upon a hundred million; but our shudders are all for the "horrors of the... momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty and heartbreak? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief terror that we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror - that unspeakable bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves."
Mark Twain, writing about the French Revolution,
in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

Police: Woman allegedly kills herself with gun bought to prepare for Ferguson unrest - CNN.com

The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident. Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN.
The boyfriend, who wasn't identified, told police that the couple had bought a gun because of fears of unrest related to the pending grand jury decision on the shooting of Michael Brown, the sources said.

He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.
He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car. He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.

....
So to free yourself, you would burn down the source of livelihood, of one of your fellow slaves?

Do you think the current political/social climate in the US would benefit from widespread rioting, burning and looting in the neighborhoods similar to Ferguson? Explain how property damage helps anyone?

What is the relevance?

I'm wondering the same thing.

Perhaps the fear of unrest will get the white moderate off their ass and stop merely saying they care and actually do something to stop it in the future. Things they can do include: reform our police forces so they are no longer filled with sociopath bully murderers. Insist on more cameras to record everything said police do. Insist on greater accountability for police actions.

And so on.

Did MLK support appeasing lynch mobs Travis?

That hasn't worked so far, but whose to say a little more burning, looting and rioting won't work in the future...

What they won't do is sacrifice the lives of themselves or their loved ones in the name of preventing social unrest. And I don't blame them for that.

We are moving further back towards a " separate but equal " society. If someone is going to be given a pass for bad behavior because they belong to a particular group, I am unwilling to suffer their presence.

Edit to allow that the sociopathic bullies I have known are less likely to be police than the police I know are to be sociopathic bullies.
