No, it apparently did happen. The same folks who have been denouncing the police on social media have also denounced it, including Antonio French (who can be somewhat greasy in his own right) and Patricia Bynes.

And there have been discussions about what to put out live, or on spaces like Twitter before - since, no shock, the police have monitored social media and live-tweets in order to hound protestors, raid churches that were set up as sanctuaries, and the like.

Kinda like how Ferguson police supposedly didn't want media showing the "rioters and looters" on tv...except that the supposed "rioters and looters" were actually just standing on the sidewalks, or in their backyards, with their hands up.

As for sites like CTH, well, those are the sort of places who push garbage like that "Knockout Game" meme, and rush to defend any white person who shoots a black person, so they aren't worth worrying about.

Sort of like these "peaceful protestors"? You're at least partially right - most of them are on the sidewalk. :cool:

The guy on the left looks like he has a dust mask that he brought with him for the "protest". It also looks like someone out of the picture "pants-ed" him. I mean you can't wear your pants that low can you? He looks a bit shocked, I dunno.
 
Another apparent mistrust of authority-fueled outburst -- this time, from a north Texas teacher via Twitter:

Apparently the Duncanville ISD feels Ms. Hegwood needed time away from her duties to reflect on these feelings.

Early this morning district officials met with Ms. Hegwood, the teacher who stated reprehensible personal opinions on her personal social media account. The district took swift action and exercised the fullest disciplinary action allowed under district policy. Ms. Hegwood was placed on suspension without pay pending discharge. Under state law, a school district’s Board of Trustees “fires” staff members, and the district will pursue that action with the board soon. In the meantime, the teacher has been placed on suspension without pay pending discharge.

The district wants the community to know that the actions of this one individual does not and should not represent the school district. Every day, two hundred and forty Duncanville High School teachers provide a school environment that fosters academic excellence, good citizenship and respect for others. Teachers give their life’s work to shaping the future, and this one individual does not represent our staff or our district.​

I don't know if it's technically mistrust of authority. I think patriarchy or privilege*** is the most likely culprit.



***Gosh darn it, one of these days I'm gonna remember which is which.

I'll be objective and admit it could be either -- or a combination of the factors. I think it's more important that we rule out her own, personal racist ideology and hypocrisy than quibble over which form of oppression created it.
 
I would like to hold the police to a higher standard than criminals. The posts about looters misses the point.

Whether the original shooting was justified, the police in Ferguson have since acted in a way that shows contempt for constitutional rights. The press were not criminals.

The situation was clearly escalated by that mailbox. The police can't be held responsible for anything they do as a result of the fear instilled in them by such a disrespectful object.

Why are you pushing conspiracy theories?

Anyway, since it is not disputed that the police wildly overreacted to peaceful protestors, and that they have monitored social media in order to monitor said people, it's not a shock that, in the end, someone gets hurt over suspicions of posting plans on social media. It's sad, but it's very clear by now that the Ferguson police are not acting in the public's best interests.
