Continuation Part Eight: Discussion of the Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito case

Why can't Amanda say that Raphael borrowed her key and went to the cottage to get her vibrator. He came back at a time that seemed to be later than she expected he would be back.
Mignini could then think up a new story about Raffael met Rudy on the way there. Rafael let Rudy in. Rudy talked Raffael into doing something unmentionable to Meredith when she got home.
This way the Italians could at least convict Raffaele. They can't get Amanda back so they gave up on trying to convict her.

While I believe the evidence is just as BS supporting this, the argument can be made for this just as strongly as a three way conspiracy.

Massive amounts of localised gloating, many around Scottish and Welsh people, as well as the occasional bit of ultra-violence towards any person that looks vaguely like the're from the country that knocks England out, as well as a few small riots here and there, and a spike in drunken violence on the night and that weekend.

Clockwork orange or lana del rey?
This forum is above the infantile smiley culture of others, IMO, but what winds me up is they combine sadistic pleasure with a semblance of literacy.

How the media can fan a mob mentality

How can the media help convict the wrongfully accused?

new-study-shows-how-mob-mentality-journalism-helps-convict-the-innocent/

"The media has won deserved credit for its role in exposing wrongful convictions. But there are many examples of compliant coverage of prosecutors and law enforcement authorities who rush to convict the innocent on flimsy or phony evidence. David Krajicek, a co-founder of Criminal Justice Journalists, writes that each of the cases offers critical lessons for journalists—and the public—of the perils of “mob journalism” and media tunnel vision."

Nick Pisa, Barbie Latza Nadeau, Andrea Vogt, John Follain..... who am I missing?

Because she can't. It is far too late for Amanda to change her testimony.

He drugged her and he snuck off to murder Meredeth :p
He was obsessed with Amanda, wanted her to move in with him, and thought that murdering Meredeth would get him that.
Of course I do not believe a word of it

Milan & Perugia

I'll take Desert Fox's answer and add more to it as justification for why the Milan police let Rudy go:

Minor crime and they are overwhelmed. Plus a police officer in Perugia said "Yes, we know him. He didn't actually break in, did he, or resist?" "No? Good." "His foster family are upstanding citizens. They own the basketball team. Send him back here. We'll take care of it. Tell him when he gets back here to come see me".

The 'minor crime, overwhelmed' suggests what? That Milan wanted to let him go without any intervention from Perugia? (but there was a call, and specific police have been quoted on it).

Alternatively, 'foster family upstanding citizens', nobody says this was mentioned. Truly invented, although speculated upon from known facts and not illogical, nonetheless - zero indication its actually true.

However, again, Rudy busted in the act, carrying a knife, and stolen items from another burglary in Perugia. A call is made, Rudy released, and sent back on next train (with his backpack and his own knife, according to Moore).

btw - there were I believe two trips back to the cottage. One on Nov 3rd with Giobbi and the "ta-da" booties dance, and another on Nov 4th where the police Amanda to open a draw and wanted her to pick out a knife (from Ak's book).

I believe by Nov 4th, the fix was in, and they (police) wanted her fingerprints or DNA on a "compatible knife". Nov 3rd, I'm inclined to believe they're already leaning towards her, if not after her from the get go. Or maybe they just suspect everyone, and by day 4, she was all the last one standing.

Certainly Rudi wouldn't burglar for a few dollars since he had the support of the wealthiest man or his wife in Perugia and he had just stolen 2000 Euros. So he wasn't a burglar?

I'm sure you are aware, and may have even pointed it out yourself, that there is no evidence that Rudy stole 2000 euros from the school.

While the story of the pasta cooking is consistent with other stories that have been attributed to Rudy, it seems unreasonable for a thief to spend the night at the scene of a recent significant crime.

What would make more sense is for the money to have been embezzled by an insider and blamed on the recent intruder.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I think in this case better to just say "I don't know?"

We'll never know for sure if Rudy was the burglar or if it was an inside job. That said, I don't think Rudy compares to the average burglar who's motivation is solely material gain. I don't think you can evaluate him just through a logical and rational lens.

I am not a psychiatrist and have never treated or interviewed Rudy so this is unfair to a degree. Still some of the crimes that we associate with Rudy have the markings of a sexual burglar. He hangs out at each place, the law office, Ms. Diaz and the nursery. There is a "thrill" of the act. Many burglars are known to burglarize the same place many times over. While you and I wouldn't stay at a place for very long that we burglarized a few weeks earlier, I don't think we can reasonably view Rudy through that lens. Rapists and serial killers are often known to "revisit" the scenes of their crimes to "relive the experience".

If the Portugese team defeats both the USA and England, we could form a corporation that will invent a weapon to kill portugese man of war jellyfish

Raffale could confess that he loaned Amanda the key to his door and a knife from his kitchen, then he went back to sleep. He also remembers That Amanda seemed to really Hate Meredith. This would be part of a deal to get another acquittal.

Seriously? Never going to happen.

I would not put it past the Italian judiciary to suggest just that :p
Too bad he is not a 66 year old with amorous feelings for a 12 year old. . . .Be sure to acquit him.

I keep forgetting that this is Italy where logic has little to do with anything.

Not like there have not been some pretty strange cases in the US :(

I think there should be a sanity check on some court cases.

This is true. Right now I'm flabbergasted with the Russ Faria case so I shouldn't just dismiss the insanity of Italy and this case. Never the less, I find myself dismissing what I see as illogical and it's probably illogical to even believe one second that this has anything to do with it.

My mind wants to smack people around for suggestions like what Xionix just presented, but maybe it's me that needs to get slapped around. After all, it certainly is taking me a while to lock onto the fact that this is an alternative universe.
