Well it looks like now that he's not running for Presnit we finally can see his true (pink) color. Mittens has announced that he's for a minimum wage increase.
"I also believe the key for our party is to be able to convince the people who are in the working population, particularly in the Hispanic community, that our party will help them get better jobs and better wages," Romney said. "Minority families have been the most hard-hit during these past five years."

Looks like now that he can let his hair down, and nobody's writing his speeches, he has gone commie, proving he has no understanding of the business cycle and has thrown his lot in with those Marxist professors he was exposed to at Brigham Young.

I think he's just accepted the practical reality that MW increases are a good way to appeal to traditionally democratic voters.

And we know how well Mitt does things when he's trying to appeal to specific voters..

I think that's Boehner, not Mitt.

Very funny phrasing. Makes it sound like just optics for the party, and not an economic policy.

It is very odd in many ways. "The Hispanic community" just struck me as meaning "those Mexicans".

Romney: "I also believe the key for our party is to be able to convince the people who are in the working population, particularly in the Hispanic community, that our party will help them get better jobs and better wages,"
And "those people who are in the working population", that's purely bombastic grandiloquence, almost Palinesque in style.

The "key for our party" according to Romney is not to work for better jobs and better wages, but "to be able to convince....<merciful snippage signifying "folks"> that our party will help them get better jobs..."

That sounds transparently odd and mere republican-speak nonsense as well as amazingly wrong headed if he really meant what he said. Romney really seems to lack confidence in his convictions, which is likely why he does so much flip flopping. For Romney, everything's optics.

Good post except for that strikeout near the end.

This is an interesting point. IOW, it could be nothing more than "convince them that tax cuts for the rich will trickle down to them."
