You think the people who are going to starve to death deserve it? Or the people who are going to continue to live a life of luxury before fleeing the country to spend more time with their Swiss bank accounts?

I am of a mind to quote Rober Heinlein at times like this:

Collective stupidity tends to result in larger body counts.

I had a job once which included cataloguing all work related fatal accident reports in my country. From this experience I can tell you that often, those that are punished for this universal capital crime are often not those who committed it.
 
It sounds like Mugabe ripped a page from the US's wonderfully successful, "war on drugs". We can control anything by making laws prohibitting it!

The was a story on NPR about a year ago about Zimbabwain white farmers and how, since they had their farms taken away, they've migrated to neighboring countries and set up farms. And, big surprise, their skills and knowledge have proved to be a boon to the new countires in which they've settled. Mugabe is a real idiot for putting racial politics and pride over the health of his country.
 
It isn't just that white farmers took their skills away...it is that Mugabe's land reform, surprise, surprise, was used to reward political cronies not people really willing to farm the land. In short, farmers -- white or black -- aren't in controll of the land, party members. In fact, Mugabe has kept small black farmers off much of the land that was taken. It wasn't "land reform" in any sense, it was complete theft, not even justifiable by any sort of socialist logic.

It's not racial politics for him - it's power politics, the seizure of lands is just one aspect of his (effective) dictatorship.

I say we make an international law against douchebaggery. That should solve many problems.
