BROCKTON — Youths beat and stabbed a 2-year-old dog at Edgar's Playground, leaving the wounded pooch to inch its way home to Brook Street a few houses away.

Pug, a shepherd-husky mix, was found stunned and whimpering by its owner, Howard White, on the family's front porch Wednesday after the brutal attack and is now recuperating at a West Bridgewater veterinary clinic.

"It is sad to think someone could be so cruel," said White's wife, Susan.

Howard White said he returned from grocery shopping about 4 p.m. Wednesday to find Pug and the family's other dog, Rocky, outside and a person who witnessed the attack waiting for the family to return.

It must take a lot of balls to beat up a little mut, id like to find the people who did this and see how they like a good beating and stabbing. This really pisses me off.

I agree. Makes my blood pressure rise when I hear crap like this.

Not that it really matters, but a Shepherd-Husky mix is not a "little" dog, most likely.

Hope they catch the little punks.

health and well being to all creature
safety and protection to all creatures
adequate food and love for all creatures
peace and compassion for all creatures

The cool thing is that this used to be the standard treatment of humans towards other animals... we do make some progress.

What kind of person inflicts pain on such a caring creature? I haven't gone to the whole story...what was their motive? I dont' care what it is, it's not any excuse for such inhumane actions.

WOW!

Who would have guessed this could happen in Brockton? I guess Dorchester is down 1 point in their never-ending battle for Suckiest-Boston-Area-Town-that-Should-Fall-Into-the-Atlantic.

That poor dog!

The link brought up a story on arts & crafts for me.

I used to work in Brockton back when I lived in Massachusetts. As disgusting as I find this story, I can't say I'm surprised by it.

Why was the dog running loose?

The owner shares at least some of the responsibility for what happened.

I think they were abusing the animal because they had nothing else to do.
