I have been trying to get a video up on YouTube, but keep getting Cannot Find Server Mesasge. I am on Earthlink, but use the DSL connection through Comcast Cable.

I recently noticed that my Adobe Reader and Google Updater would not recieve updates. I finally found the uninstall program for Google Updater, took Google off and reinstalled. Didn't help. Does YouTube use Adobe in any way? Do i have to uproot and reload that?

Or maybe the problem is that this computer is just a opiece of obsolescent junk. (Compaq 5001CL)

Try opening up a command prompt and pinging youtube.com. If it gets responses, it's likely your computer. If there's no response, ping 208.65.153.238.
If there's no response, it's (likely) an issue with your provider. If there is a response, it's a DNS issue.

Erm...Thank you, but I have no idea what you just told me. I'm old and still trying to figure this thing out. I am barely what anyone would call computer literate.

Know the feeling, LS!

Do you know how to get a command prompt in Windows?

Sorry! Click on start, then run. type in "cmd" without the quotes, then enter. It will open an command prompt.

Type (again without quotes) "ping youtube.com" then enter.

If that returns results, the problem is within your browser.

If it does not return results, step 2.

ping 208.65.153.238 <enter>

If there are 4 responses, you have a DNS issue, and will likely have to contact your internet provider for help. If there are no responses, the issue may not be with your computer at all, and may be a problem with the internet service provider.

Well, I think it is my computer. I finally made the connection.

Problem is, it's all screwed up. I got the whole video, but it plays out in 10 seconds, instead of a minute or so as it should. And there is less than 10 seconds of audio. ACK!

If the original on your computer plays fine, YouTube probably screwed up during the conversion of your video format into their video format. They convert every video they receive into the format they use on YouTube. Or your connection is still flawed and some data got lost.

Is this video edited, or did you upload a generic file generated by your webcam software? YouTube can deal with all those webcam formats very well normally.

Then YouTube should be able to handle it. I would try uploading it again to see if the same error happens again.
