• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

You Tube Download

Is there some way I can pull clips from You Tube? The reason being that there is a hell of a lot of stuff I'd love to show my kids at school, however the school's filter (don't get me started on how stupid the set-up is) has a 'one-size-fits'-all' policy, meaning what the kids can't see, we can't see either. So You Tube is banned for students AND teachers. I could get the ban lifted for particular pages, but this is tedious and rarely happens within any decent amount of time.

So, my options are to go through a proxi site (I know of none that the school hasn't sussed out and banned in their own right, but if you have any suggestions on new ones I'd love to hear them) or to just rip the stuff off You Tube.

Suggestions welcome.

If you go to http: //keepvid.com/ that gives you the option to download Flash videos from YouTube to you desktop. It's pretty self-explanatory but you will need either a Flash converter or player to play them. There's a player that you can download from the site. That's what I do and I don't seem to have had any problems with it yet.
(Note:there's a space in that URL because I can't post links yet.)

This is what you need - a very handy online youtube converter - just enter the url , download the created file and rename eg video.avi
