You can put lipstick on a pig...

No, not that pig (or pit bull, or whatever).

This one has a christian fundy side-part and a reactionary right-wing reform agenda. Hey...wait...but now it has a comforting, non-threatening sweater vest and gives fatherly anecdotes from an easy chair in the den! Let's all go sit on father piggy's knee where it's warm and safe. Won't you join me? I promise its not the least bit creepy. :eye-poppi

Or maybe it's just some lousy lipstick on the same stinkin' oinker.

(Just though y'all might enjoy a break from the content-free American presidential campaigns and associated snarking to see how we roll in content-free Canuck election land)

(P.S. Don't ask about the "pooping puffin")

So is he an Obama or McCain surrogate? I couldn't tell. Just joshin'. Don't worry, I won't make the trite "Canadians are inferior" joke here.

Awesome ad. I didn't catch what he was saying, the piano music combined with his commonfolk accepting sad tone was way too distracting. And touching. Good man, that Harper.

P.S. What's this pooping puffin thing? I read something about bird poop disrupting some sort of gathering you people consider important.

ETA: I really do love Canada, I was just being sarcastic....in case there was any ambiguity.

Neither. Bush, I'm afraid. George calls him "Steve".

And sincere. So sincere.

Dammit, I said don't ask! :p

Since you asked...it's the political scandal of the ages. It makes Watergate look like schoolyard shenanigans; it makes the King-Byng affair (obscure Canadian constitutional crisis) look like a polite disagreement. Our fragile confederation may not survive it.

A pooping puffin distracted federal political leaders Tuesday from their policy pronouncements and forced Stephen Harper to make a rare apology to his main rival, Stéphane Dion.

That is hilarious (the situation, not the ad itself obviously). I am shocked and aghast that the persons responsible for it are walking around free.
