Regular viewers of this column (OK, I'm getting carried away with pretending to be a journalist) will remember the many threads with cool optical illusions (I didn't start any of them; I was a mere observer).
Check out this latest one involving a photograph of Earth's moon as seen from the International Space Station. It appears as though the moon is very small and inside Earth's atmosphere. The photo is unretouched, so it's not a trick, but merely a true optical illusion.
So much for trying to calculate distances from the apparent relative sizes of objects in photographs...
