Yes, Virginia, there really was a manger...

Or, so, at least would the American populace polled by NEWSWEEK have us believe:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6650997/site/newsweek/?GT1=5936

I have very little idea of how a good poll is supposed to be designed, and how the poll issued by NEWSWEEK was designed, but this just makes me so damn depressed.

43% want to teach creationism INSTEAD of evolution???

I'm weeping into my afternoon cup of tea.

So what? Over half of Icelanders believe in elves, gnomes, trolls and huldufolk. Now that's some crazy ... uh ... [robotovoce] starting to look reasonable ... [/robotovoce]

To be fair, it's really only 40.6% who are religious wackos wanting to teach creationism instead of evolution. The other 2.4% are jaded nihilists trying to hasten the end of human civilisation by making everyone as dumb as possible.

Yes, I know it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes.
