So I was watching a doco about crop circles in which one was created using Mayan symbols and was said to have some significance with 2012. I was wondering if anyone here would know why people who believe in alien visiations or aliens creating crop circles would secretly manufacture them themselves? Don't they hate people who publicly make them? or hate knowing when they come across fake ones?

What might be going on here?

Did they interview the people that made the circle? Or just some one commentating on it? If I had to guess I would say that it's most likely that the circle makers where just playing games with the believers, they do seem to like to make their circles "realistic"

No, the farmer where the circle was created was holding a newspaper article about it, and he said it was Mayan related.

In regards to playing games, that may be what it was.

Here's the circle in question: ht*p://i.b5z.net/i/u/2009578/i/Mayan_Calander.jpg

Whoops, forgot to say welcome as well :o Well belated welcome Quake

That's quite a nice circle. We've had multiple threads on crop circles.

Welcome, Quake. I'm still not sure why you think the woos created that circle.

The reason I think it was done by woos, is that they said it was a Mayan calender.

Most crop circles seem to be just geometric patterns without any meaning, but the Mayan circle seems to have incorporated a popular new age belief. Now that's an interesting stratergy! Not only make your cirlces highly complex and sophisiticated, but make them so they appeal to new age beliefs to increase their media attention.

Thanks for the welcome, and nice site! I think I've heard of those guys, they may have been on the crop circle doco I saw?

Yes, but why do you think woos created it? The usual cast of circle makers could have created it to intrigue the woos.

Gone are the days of meaningless geometric patterns:

On the subject of woos creating crop circles, I remember in the National Geographic "Is it Real?" show on crop circles, they interviewed a circle maker who believed he was inspired or directed by some kind of power to create the circles. I don't think he was using Mayan symbols, but it is possible for the circles to be made by woos.

Creating circles and then lying to get others to believe, creating lies to get people to buy their alt meds, all the same. No surprise there.

It's the truth they don't want to buy or sell. Weird that.

Yes I guess it should be no surprise that we find people of all sorts creating crop circles (and the demented ones should be no exception, it was my mistake to assume woos wouldn't create them) especially now it's widely known how they're made.
