Why I want Bush to win

I feel Bush deserves to win purely on the basis that he seeded the clouds of war now he must weather the storm of this monumental screwup.
That will include the inevitable cut and run after a time congress at some time sooner or later will refuse to fund this Middle East money pit to the order of hundreds of billions of dollars again and again at Bush's request. Yes I would love him to be in office when his humiliating cut an run eventuates. And I want the buck to stop with him and his tight circle of cronies.

I agree. What's Kerry going to do? Do the same things Bush did, and blame all the screw-ups on the previous administration. Better that Bush doesn't have the excuse. When America ends up a gazillion dollars in deficit, with no friends in the world, may the US voters will finally wake up.

You haven't been reading Kodiak. That just gives them an excuse to use even more weaponry against the rest of us. Hey, that's how the world works, no use complaining.

You're forgetting that Bush and his cronies will never admit wrongdoing or mistakes. Ever. Under any circumstances. Evidence is irrelevant, it's all about spin, and trusting in Jesus, and patriotism. If you walked into the Oval Office and Bush were standing there over a dead body, knife in hand, drenched to the elbows in blood, and the murder had been caught on live television, and there were a thousand eye witnesses...he'd deny it all and call it a media conspiracy. And millions of people would believe him. In fact, they'd vilify you for suggesting there might be a possibility of a shadow of a chance of Bush having done something wrong.

That's all well and good but I can't accept the continued damage to the economy, environment, judicial system, foreign policy and science for 4 more years.

Lol. Beware of putting the US in the position of having nothing to lose....after all, we got out of our last economic depression by getting into a world war. Wink, wink. If we go down, we're taking all of you with us.

As Kodiak says, it's all about who has the biggest gun and is prepared to use it. I think there is something in that for all of us.

Oh come on, we British know you Yanks can be trusted never to get into a war that looks like a fair fight. You only joined in WWll because you knew the Soviets could be trusted to do most of the heavy lifting.:D

I'm reminded of the maxim: "Work smarter, not harder." :D

Are you completely insane? A Bush victory will be seen by Bush as a vindication of his policies and decisions. A reward for a job well done. There will be no payback later for any cut and run. In his second term he will know that it is the end of the road for him anyway. How would he be punished?

Any future withdrawal by Bush from Iraq will be accompanied by huge "Mission Accomplished" banners, fanfare and platitudes of democracy in the middle east, no matter how big a clusterf*** the region is at the time.

This election is the ONLY opportunity to bring ANY accountability to the Bush adminstration for the unbelieveably horrible job they've done in the past 4 years.

I pretty much agree and have said as much on one of Claus's threads (I think).

For me the election is a great sporting contest ( or possibly unsporting contest ) but I don't really mind who wins.

One of the possible advantages of a Bush victory is that it may thoroughly discredit neo conservatism and unilateralism in the US which I think would be to the advantage of most citizens of the US and most states in the rest of the world.

The problem is it won't because of what Thanz posted above your post. Bush has reinvented the concept of a Teflon president. Bush is always right and never at fault, just ask him and he's got half the electorate nodding right along with him.

I cynically agree. Unfortunately, even my most cynical self doesn't want to be stuck with a Bush supreme court, cast for a generation.

I know for a fact that Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter are on the Bush short list of replacements.

I have that link around here somewhere, give me a few minutes and I'll find it.

Only if Kerry wins will there be a humiliating cut and run. Remember Clinton did just that after the "Black Hawk Down" incident in which our dead were dragged through the streets by the good people of Somalia.

It was this very act of "cut-and-run-ism" that inspired OBL to perform many other acts of terrorism culminating in 9/11.

If Kerry wins it'll be an unmistakable shot in the arm to Al Qaeda. This will mean more, not less terrorism against America. Once we are shown to be politically swayed by terrorist acts, more swaying will be attempted.

Only Bush has gone after the terrorists...only Bush has promised to "stand firm" on prosecuting the WOT. Kerry OTOH is a flip-flopping weakling like Clinton....and like Clinton, a Kerry admin will be fertilizer for a whole new crop of terrorism.

If Bush wins there will be 4 more years of this messy war business....and yes it's likely to result in war fatigue and a Dem win in 2008. OTOH a Kerry victory coupled with a retreat from the WOT and subsequent upsurge in terrorism will marginalize the Democratic party for years and years....

I still want to see Bush win....but a Kerry victory has a silver lining for conservatives too. Fact is, whoever wins will face a very messy 4 years. Getting re-elected after a bad 4 year stretch is going to be hard no matter who is in power.

So, were you planning to invade France, China or both?

Experts disagree.

And to fill-in your selective memory, cut and run (in terms of mid-east terrorism) started with Reagan in Lebanon.

Do you plan on voting for Bush?
