Why ghost hunting is like fishing

A good read - but warning: DO NOT READ if you believe in ghosts.. or fish :D
Why ghost hunting is like fishing

..as i posted at another critical thinking forum.. If a believer reads it, do you think they will "get it" ?
If not deliberate, then the irony is delicious.

I read it, but the overall analogy is poor. Fish are simple minded animals.

Humans who might have died and hang around after death are completely different concept than just going out and "finding fish."

Worked alright for me but the text was too small and I couldn't be bothered to read it. Meh!

Perhaps the fish analogy was taken a little too far but in all I thought it was a fun read. The parallels to paranormal investigators, especially the TV Ghost Hunters was great. Thanks!

That link gives me an error: "This webpage is not available"

I thought "Forrest Gump learns how to go fishing" was a good analogy. Descriptions of some of the "experts" and scientific tools were spot-on..

Just like fishing????

In a way it is....

It is like fishing in a lake with no fish

I imagine ghost hunters going fishing would make for one hell of a hilarious program.

Oh my god, can't someone do that?! Film a crew going fishing, complete with anecdotes to set the mood, scary music, all kinds of awesome-but-useless gear that couldn't possibly be used to find, much less cath, any fish, and someone going "OH MY GOD WHAT THE **** WAS THAT??!!" every now and then, followed by panic and then a crewman speaking into the camera about how the guy saw "something", and this fit with other people having seen "something" in the past, and this somehow proving there was fish in the lake.

There are also plenty of stories of fish following people home. So you know they're out there.

Actually, based on my own angling experiences, I'd say ghost fish are real. How else can you explain all the times I've had a tug on the line, my bait is gone...yet no fish? Certainly it can't possibly be that I just plain suck at fishing.

Sometimes we cant see the forest thru the trees. Humor requires a light heart and lighter attitude..
But I do agree, fish are proven to exist, and ghosts aren't.. You are certainly correct about that.

It helps if you are a fan or ex fan of the TV ghost shows like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Ghost Hunters Academy, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Lab etc etc, then the article all makes perfect sense.

At least it does to me having watched pretty much every episode of Ghost Hunters.
