Why doesn't NASA think big with their fakes?

Premise: NASA successfully fooled the world into thinking we survived the Van Allen Belts Of All Death And Despair and then landed on the moon.

Yay!

And in the forty years since then only a relatively small group of super geniuses :D put together the pieces and figured out it was actually faked. Thankfully, for the Apollo fake conspirators, this elite group is comprised of marginalized citizens that everyone just ignores, mostly.

So, with that stated, why isn't NASA now faking even grander things?

Where is the fake mission to Mars? Where is the fake base on the moon? Where is the fake rotating space station? Where is the fake wormhole-trans-dimensional-quantum-reality-bending super space ship?

If NASA could fake Apollo in 1969 why are they settling for faking mundane things now? Shouldn't we have a fake colony on Zeitulan C8 by now?

Travis, it's rather simple: If They (tm) tried to fake things that were TOO big, then even the sheeple would start to get suspicious, and They (tm) can't have that. Right now, They (tm) have managed to fool the unsuspecting public into accepting their space-travel lies, and there's no need to endanger the status quo.
