Why do theists get a free ride?

Theists will not defend their beliefs logically though they violate the most basic fundamentals of critical thinking. Why the free ride?

If a person believes something and wishes to force that view upon others (bring creationism / intelligent design in school, even though it has no evidence to back it up) then why are they not forced to explain away how they violate logic by asserting something meta-physical or super-natural as the origin of physical matter when they have no scientific evidence?

For instance, we know their books right down to the smallest letter was written which is of course a reaction to the belief in God. Which God, Where, How do we know it wasn't just the ramblings of a delusion man? You can't just black box it and sweep it under the carpet with "Have Fiath and all shall be revealed". Skepticism demands that every assertion has through and valid evidence. What was the evidence that caused these books to exist as actual God inspired scriptures rather than the grating ramblings of drunken prophets?

So Theists claim they know there is a God. They must prove that it is possible first. If you can't get out of the starting gate, then how can you force everyone to assume you won the race?

JRE is about proving things. You can't claim to be a psychic and gain credibility without proving it. Shouldn't the same go for an Theists? Why the free ride?

They don't get a free ride. Have you not read this forum?
However, if they admit that it's just a belief/feeling and don't try to prove the existence of their god or that their holy book is absolute truth then there's very little to argue about, except possibly some philosophy.

Yeah, I know. I just wanted to see if I could use rittjc's basic argument style on the other side. The irony is, for the most part it seems to actually be a lot more valid.

For the record, I don't believe they get a free ride. But, neither do Atheists.

Sorry, read the OP and responded before I saw rittjc's thread.

Never mind. :D

This thread just may, just may be worth a subscription.

They get a free ride because, somewhere along the way, they convinced a great many people that it is immoral to reject those beliefs.

Now I'm confused. My nephew is staying with me at the moment and we're thinking of heading into town. We'd like a free ride as parking costs are prohibitive and it's too cold for public transport.

To increase our chances of getting this free ride, should we be atheists or theists?

I want to start a church for atheists. What are the chances I could get it a tax-exempt status? I want to take advantage of this free ride we're getting.

...could we even do this?

You have to explain what will happen in the afterlife to get free money.

Really? Tell me a little something about "they" and this supposed convincing deal.

All of them?

A few of them?

Some of them?

Most of them?

I used to be a Christian, now I'm atheist. I still ain't got no free ride!

Where did I go wrong? :(

Been done a few times. Never ammounts to much.

If they make a claim based on their belief or say that they can prove X, that is another story. If they merely assert 'I believe in X', what about that upsets you so much to claim that they need to prove X?
