From WorldNetDaily via the Daily Beast:

God told Joe the Plumber not to run for public office.

Asked if he has plans to run for public office, he replied, "I hope not. You know, I talked to God about that and he was like, 'No.'"

He continued, "I believe he's gotten me on this grassroots movement. If I can encourage leaders to step up, that's what I would like to do. That's a heavy role. That's something I don't know if I am prepared to do yet."

But Wurzelbacher said he will keep that door open if God ever calls him to be that leader.

"I just know whenever I fall off his path, things get really hard," he said. "So I just stick with what God tells me to do.

Joe has a better chance of winning a longest hair contest then he does having god talk to him...

"I just know whenever I fall off his path, things get really hard," he said. "So I just stick with what God tells me to do."

This is why there are so many religious people -- they define the path of least resistance as "what God tells me to do"; therefore, "God tells them" to believe, because, presumably, they would have to think too hard to discover otherwise.

It's a big fat smelly cop-out, if you ask me (and no one did), it certainly allows you to take whatever responsibilty you may have for your actions and place them firmly on the shoulders of some other guy... who talks to you.... but whom no one else can see.... or hear. Yep, perfectly rational behaviour.
