From the home of the Gore family and the heart of plantation country...all is not going according to plan for Democrats.

Over the years, like many African Americans, we have met too many White liberals who were just downright racists. What makes this type of ‘White’ liberal so pathetic is that they don’t even know how racist and prejudice they are and too many of them can only relate to Blacks they deem ignorant ala Jungle Jim mode. Yes, we make no bones about it: We know we all have our racial problems/hang-ups on some level, but we can deal with a White person who doesn’t pretend he’s the best thing for Blacks since the Emancipation Proclamation and R& B. It’s these pseudo-liberal, White Democrats we’re sick and tired of.

"But the real point is that Kerry had already sent the strong signal early on that he is a Pseudo White Democrat Liberal. All one has to do is look at his staff. Not many Black faces up in the ranks or below the ranks for that matter. The highest ranking African American that is associated with the Kerry campaign is one former President Bill Clinton"

"As an African American, veteran and child of the '60's, I am deeply appreciative of the courage and wisdom of George W. Bush. When I consider the progress and what the alternatives might have been, I thank God."

The publishers of The Iconoclast endorsed Bush four years ago, based on the things he promised, not on this smoke-screened agenda.
Today, we are endorsing his opponent, John Kerry, based not only on the things that Bush has delivered, but also on the vision of a return to normality that Kerry says our country needs.

good for them!

Whenever I need a reminder that the right doesn't own the franchise on nuttiness, I can always count on the Seattle Weekly . Hence, these snippets of insight were a welcome surprise:
With a heady combination of illegitimacy, irresponsibility, and hubris, the presidency of George W. Bush ranks as the worst of modern times. His administration offers none of the benefits of conservatism, liberalism, or moderation.
We're suspicious of anyone who wants to be lieutenant governor. That's why once again we pick a candidate who wants to abolish this do-nothing money-draining office, currently wasting $683,000 a year.

Reminds me of something I heard from Hillary Clinton a few weeks ago. In blasting Bush, she said "He said he was a 'compassionate conservative.' He's been neither."

So she's claiming Bush has been a callous liberal...? Since when does she have problems with liberals?

Ahhh, but that assumes that when one is not a conservative then one must be a liberal.

This is like assuming that since you do not play water polo, you must be gay.

Is there anyone who's a moderate any more?

Okay, you tell me, then. When she said he's been neither (compassionate nor conservative), did she mean it as a compliment? If not, then what the hell did she mean?

Cheney voted against MLK day and a resolution to free Mandella. You gonna tell me the Bush admin is looking out for the black man?

Id rather vote for the guy wo doesnt know he's racist vs the guy who does know he's racist.

That the Seattle Weekly endorsed Kerry is no surprise. The kudos are not only for the fact that the commentary is right on, but also because showed their more moderate side by omitting Bush/Hitler comparisons.

Since my paper is the World Wide Web I don't think I can answer that one. Just depends on where I happen to be surfing.
The Washington Pest endorsed Kerry, which was only a little less surprising than the fact that the sun came up in the east every day this week.

My congressman, Jim Moran, is a lowlife who's been only barely able to stay on the right side of the law since he was Alexandria's deputy mayor in 1973 or so. Had to resign then over misuse of campaign funds. But he managed to be elected congressman about 10-12 years ago, during which time he's distinguished himself by:

1) Getting a 12-year old kid in a headlock;
2) Getting in a shoving match with another congressman;
3) Having the cops called to his house to break up a domestic quarrel with his (now ex-)wife;
4) Sponsoring legislation that would make filing for personal bankruptcy more difficult, right after getting a sweetheart, below-market rate loan to refinance his house (he's had some financial problems, to put it mildly);
5) Blaming the Iraq war on the influence of the Jews.

The Post ran an editorial last year saying he wasn't fit to be a congressman any more. But they found a way to avoid endorsing his Republican opponent anyway; they refused to endorse anyone.

My congressman made a career out of condemning homosexuality in the military and out of it, and turns out to have been paying money for same-gender lovin' himself. Guess he had an extra helping of Hypo-Crispies for breakfast!

Seriously, Virginia sucks.

You gonna tell me that you know how a black voter should choose, better than the black person does?

And while it is a topic for another thread, I've seen a whole lot more of the racists who don't know/care/admit that they are, than overt Klan members holding back minorities in recent years.

Hey, watch it. Ben Stein says Alexandria is "the cutest city in America", and as a native of the area, he knows whereof he speaks.

Now if you live down in Bristol or Buckingham or some place like that...

And if you don't like your congressman find a way to ungerrymander his district (who is he, BTW?) and get him out.

ETA: And BTW, the color of Jim Moran's nose and his erratic behavior are both consistent with excessive fondness for the juice of fermented fruits and grains.

Just cause some kooks put together a lame webpage called "blacksuperinformationhighway' doesnt mean they speak for all blacks. As if they are all of one mind.

Sure they aint perfect, but Democrats are more interested in helping black americans than the Republicans.
