Who are you voting for in the Election?

As a rather unscientific straw poll it might be interesting to see how people here would, and will be voting.

You don't have to post to explain your reasons unless you want to, and if you strongly agree/disagree with another posters choice or reasons then please start a new thread to discuss it.

And it's not who you think will win, but who you would genuinely vote for.

This poll is just to see who, if the UK election were today, you would vote for.

And, unlike the actual election, this poll is open to all overseas visitors as well as registered UK voters, madmen, criminals, people under 18 and women. :)

(ETA I have deleted a couple of the Socialist parties to fit all the parties on the poll - If you were going to vote People's Front of Judea... sorry, Judean People's Front please select 'other')

Haven't heard much from Veritas lately. The bottled tan people will be very disappointed.

Although we had one of these threads started a couple of weeks ago, it'll be interesting to see if anyone's changed their minds since then.

Has anything happened to push your vote one way or the other?

Yeah, I thought there would be one, and I was surprised that there wasn't one in the recent posts so I decided I'd do one anyway.
And I've never done a poll before and it was exciting.

You don't have a "Hunters Party" over there ? Or is it the "Official Monster Raving Loony Party" ?

Hey, check out the top three coloured bars - what a strange coincidence!

That was noted last time :)

Also, you're going to get complaints from Rolfe about not including the SNP.

I tried to vote for Labor, but I couldn't find it, so I vote for that funny-spelled one instead.

And from the single Welsh person who voted for Plaid Cymru...

Edited to add: At least, I assume he was Welsh. Perhaps he was a really optimistic Mancunian.

I seem to recall that SF also got a vote.

For me it would be a toss-up between the "Official Monster Raving Looney" party because the name is so Monty Python-ish and the "Legalize Cannabis Allaince", just because I like the idea.

I ended up going with the pot-heads though.

My vote will be a tactical one to get Labour out in my consituency. I'm sure they will get back in, and maybe with a reasonable majority, but I am just sick of them.

IMO we need a major political shake up in the UK, its time the politicians started listening to the people they are supposed to serve rather than being self serving.

Nice dream....

Yet another way our countries are more alike than different:D

Here's the full list I would have posted had there been space:
Labour Party
Conservative Party
Liberal Democrats
British National Party
Central Alliance Party
Communist Party of Britain
Green Party of England and Wales
Legalise Cannabis Alliance
Liberal Party
National Democrats
Natural Law Party
Official Monster Raving Loony Party
Pensioners Party
ProLife Party
Revolutionary Communist Party of Great Britain
Socialist Equality Party
Socialist Labour Party
Socialist Party
Socialist Party of Great Britain
Socialist Workers Party
Third Way
UK Independence Party

Plaid Cymru
Welsh Liberal Democrats
Scottish Green Party
Scottish National Party
Scottish Liberal Democrats
Scottish Socialist Party

Alliance Party of Northern Ireland
Green Party of Northern Ireland
Irish Republican Socialist Party
Northern Ireland Unionist Party
Progressive Unionist Party
Social Democratic and Labour Party
Sinn Fein
Socialist Workers Party Ireland
Socialist Workers Party in Northern Ireland
Ulster Democratic Unionist Party
Ulster Third Way
Ulster Unionist Party

We're heading for one party per person.:)

I just really love all those Socialist parties all arguing with each other about who is more socialist (see my Monty Python reference earlier, or read John O'Farrell's excellent history of the last 25 years of the Labour Party - 'Things Can Only Get Better')

Hooray! I haven't used this for a while...

It's time to award my Optimism Award of the Day to Stitch.

All we need is a slight change in basic human psychology. :)

How many of the parties listed in your poll are legitimate parties that have a chance to win?

Define chance and what they should win

In pratctice most people are pretty sure labour will win again. Realistical the conservatives are the only party that has even a small chance of beating them.

The lib dems will probably pick up 30+ seats are in thoery running in enough places to win.

Other than that the following will probably win seats:

Scottish National Party
Plaid Cymru
Social Democratic and Labour Party
Sinn Fein
Democratic Unionist Party
Ulster Unionist Party,
and with a chance at one seat
Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern

Eh?
These are all legitimate political parties.
Who decides who has a chance to win... the electorate.

While it's very likely that Labour will win overall we can't just ignore the smaller parties. One might end up governing your constituency.

Once you start writing off the smaller parties you end up on a dangerous path - the smaller parties with more limited manifestos are an important indicator of what other issues are important to people.
