I've been a forum member for a while, and I've come to recognize a few people for their views. But I'd like to get a better understanding of the general sentiment here. Thanks for voting in the poll

Doh, you're right. :(

[edit] Can I get a Moderator to replace 'apathetic' with 'Independent'? No implied relation between the two. :D

There is no choice here for independents.
Or non-Americans.

Edit, Oops, just noticed the header, please ignore. (Although, you could have stated that in the thread title!)

American nationalist. The Western hemisphere belongs to us and the Eastern hemisphere belongs to England.

Anyone who disagrees should have their navy sunk, their cavalry blown to smithereens, their dirigibles' own hydrogen contents ignited to fall out of the sky and burn while radiomen wail about it.

So slightly to the Right of Attila the Hun then?
With Vlad the Impaler a bit too liberal for you tastes?

I don't know what I am. I'm told different things by different people.
  • I'm against the war on drugs.
  • I believe prostitution should be legal.
  • I support a woman's right to choose.
  • I believe gays should have any and all rights afforded to heterosexuals.
  • I support the death penalty
  • I believe in reducing animal cruelty.
  • I think PETA is a stupid organization.
  • I support the death penalty but have serious concerns with its application.
  • I believe that markets should be as unregulated as possible but will accept some regulation.
  • I think we are taxed too high.
  • I think government wastes my money.
  • I think there should be some social programs but would like them limited.
  • I'm registered Republican and voted, Reagan, Bush, Dole, Bush.
  • I disagreed with the investigation into Clinton's past.
  • If Edwards had won the Primary and depending on what he said I would have seriously considered voting for him. I was sitting with my wife watching Edwards during the primary. My wife's politics are very much like mine. In fact I think we evolved together. She turned to me and said that she liked Edwards, I was dumbfounded, I liked him also and we discussed why. So I'm not necassarily a Republican lock. I kind of wish Edwards would have won the primary.
You tell me.

Edited to add: Did I mention I was for the death penalty? Sorry, that was a mistake to list it twice. I'm not fanatic about it.

I voted Centrist Dem as my best fit.

I find it interesting that I agree with each of RandFans positions except one:
I'm registered Democrat and and voted Against Reagan, Bush, Dole, Bush.

Also, I think I would be happier if someone other than Kerry or the other leading Dem primary candidates was in the running for Prez.

Moderate Libertarian I'd say.

Too bad the people who actually run libertarian are froot loops to make the 'green party' look brilliant.

Libertarian Socialist

or if you prefer

Green

I really need to stop reading Parecon so much.

I guess I’m some sort of centrist democrat

*I believe in a repeal of all laws aginst victimless crimes

*Pro-choice

*Equal rights for Gays

*Against the death penalty (not the principle of killing people, but the impossibility in creating an infallible system and the possibly of executing innocent people)

*I’m not pro-gun, but I think most gun regulation is worthless (Pandora’s box is opened)

*I don’t give a crap about animals (get out of my face PETA)

*I like my cities clean and I like to know there are pretty forests and things that I can go look at if I so choose , but I’m not concerned about ‘viral-humans encroaching on the purity of Mother Nature’ (get out of my face GREENPEACE)

*I believe in some semblance of fiscal responsibility, not fiscal conservatism.

*I don’t have a problem with our tax system

*The government wastes to much money

*I’m registered independent, but mostly vote Democrat. I have never voted Republican and probably never will. Look at my user name if you want to know why. (But I haven’t actually gotten many chances to vote. The upcoming presidental election will be the first one I will be old enough to vote in)

*Clinton is the sort of guy I would have over for a bar-b-Q. Bush I wouldn’t let onto my property.

No wonder we agree so often! I am exactly in agreement with your stated views but would like to add:

[ * ] I believe in the right to bear arms, but also support gun registration laws, waiting periods, and criminal record checks.

oh, also must amend this:

[ * ] I'm registered Democrat and voted, Carter, Dukakis, Clinton, Dole, Nader* (a protest vote as I disliked both candidates and would like to see a viable 3rd party)

I believe in Royalty as long as I am the King. Basically there's me and everyone else whom I'll call serfs. Do my bidding and there will be peace in the world. Refer to me a Jesus or Allah or "Your Holy Bigness".
Do not ask for 'proof'. Have faith in Me. Also give me 10% of your Net Pay every week so I can live according to my royal style. And hands off "Traycee" who works at the Palomino in Las Vegas. [She's mine by royal decree. Also Catherine Zeta-Jones.]
Other than that you serfs can do whatever you want.

I did not realize apathy was a political alignment.
Surprisingly, apathy makes up around 60% of the population, based on voting numbers. And if apathy isn't a political alignment, that's fine. I don't really care.

I would let Clinton onto my property but I would send my 8 year old daughter to stay with friends and put the dog up at the pound.
