Where to find a free program to see xls files?

I'm only interested in a program so I can view(would be nice if I could edit them too) xls files, so it doesn't need to be a huge program with a billion functions. Must be freeware, with no spyware included. I don't mind banners and such, only want the program to work efficiently.

The spreadsheet bit of OpenOffice will let you view and edit xls files.
