Where do the 58 weiners, buns and water wind up?

That Japanese guy who is not very heavy, who keeps winning these food eating contests is astounding. He is heads above his competition. He can out eat 400 pounders. How? I ate about a pound of dip along with chips last night and felt sorry for doing so. And this got me thinking about the guy putting away the weiners.

First, they are churned about in the stomach along with hydrochloric acid. Then they go through the small intestine where nutrients are extracted. Then on to the large intestine and eventually, out the body and into the toilet. As to why he can do it? Probably because he is skinny, his stomach as more room to expand. With fat people, their abdominal fat gets in the way of their stomach expanding.

He's just making a joke about how big his bowel movements must be, Lisa Simpson. Surely the volume, mass, and perhaps even the frequency would be amusing?

How many wiener do you have to eat in a session to qualify for the Million Dollar Challenge ?

nimzo :boxedin:

I hate to be the one to...bring it up, but the rules of competitive eating only require the competitors to keep the food down until the contest is over.

I saw an episode of True Life on MTV in which this particular gentleman explains that he has some sort of congenital deformity which allows his stomach more room in the body to expand than is usual. Otherwise, I know that he trains very hard. He works out every day to keep his metabolism high. He also eats massive amounts of food when training to help elasticize his stomach.

As for whether he actually digests the stuff, they didn't say. He wasn't shown hurling, though.

How would metabolism be relevant? It's not like he's going to burn off a significant amount of food during the contest.

No, but there are benefits. You are able to use more food, means you can practice more and better. I'd also assume that it means you won't feel quite as horrible in the hours directly after a competition. And, finally, unless you plan on a second career as a sumo fighter, you want to use all those calories rather than store them.

Right. In order to eat that volume of food, he can't gain abdominal fat. So he has to have a really fast metabolism to burn off the food he "practices" with and also the food he eats during competitions.

Where do the 58 weiners, buns and water wind up? In a container or on the ground ultimately.

I guess bulimia wouldn't be a good solution.
